I highly doubt he jumped from there, though. It's either photoshopped or at an angle to make it look like he jumped from a tower. Anyone who can climb up a tower, put their skis on while balancing on a tower head, jump off, and land clearly should be in a circus.

Interesting use of the transfer tow at Alta.... Note I did not take this picture, nor do I endorse the activities depicted.

I hate the transfer tow at Alta or any tows and I never use them because the rope ruined my gloves!!! When I grabbed the rope, a rope scratched and burned my gloves.

Instead of ride Collins or Sunnyside/Sugarloaf to go over the mountain and ski down either Albion base or Wildcat base. It is easy way than the transfer tow.

When I worked on the K-1 at Killington we used to make the snowboarders put covers on their snowboards and no one would do it and they would give us crap about it. None of the lifties liked doing it and i was the foreman that year. I volunteered to it and i put a snowboard cover on my head and went in the maze and handed out snowboard covers and acted like an idiot. Everyone got a kick out of it and we didn't have any vandalizm that day and no snowboard covers were thrown out of the cabins.

They are definately a different crwod to deal with and have to be dealt with differently.

Check out Alta pic of the day. The wild life is pretty cool, but it looks like the transfer tow is being disassembled. Anybody have any ideas whats going on?

It does look that way. That lift sure was unique.
I'm uploading it as an attachment for when the photo of the day on the Alta site changes.

If the rope looks detensioned, that's true. Good fox, though!

I sent Alta an email asking and they said no worries, just maintenance.

I actually know the skier in the photograph, and there was no photoshop involved. The guy has hucked off of some pretty high cliff bands before at Snowbasin and for him to jump off this tower would be nothing.

I came across these photos of the Frostwood pulse gondola at The Canyons; apparently it wasn't completed until February. It has only 4 cabins. Am I correct that it has Garaventa CTEC line gear and tower heads? I haven't seen those for awhile on new Doppelmayr CTEC lifts. Also I thought the Galaxy II terminal had been retired in favor of the Uni-Star drive/tension version like the one at Red.

Does anyone have any pictures of the Timberline quad that went in last summer? I haven't seen a single picture of it yet.

I remember seeing a few pictures of Jeff Flood's Still Creek Basin Express (say that name 100 times) on here. I don't quite remember where or by whom, though.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant the Timberline lift at The Canyons.

The Timberline lift at The Canyons has the UNI-Star terminal. I saw a picture of it at the Doppelmayr CTEC booth while at PNSAA. It's also the same color as the Tombstone Express.

It looks that way to me. That's pretty strange. This lift looks 100% GaraventaCTEC to me.

That lift was ordered and parts fab'ed years before it was installed.

Is Frostwood going to be open to the public, or is it just for the condo crowd? Seems like the kind of thing that will never run. Did they use it at all this year?
