I think the ski industry would be a better recipient than the auto companies who are going to keep us in an energy crisis.

Good one!! Maybe the Yellowstone club and Tamarak could change their business entity to a bank, and ask for some bailout money!!

I E-mailed Winter Park to inquire/ complain about the lack of terrain open and was told that it is just very difficult to predict snow conditions and they are not certain when more terrain will open.
My theory is they are waiting until 12/26 to open the remaining terrain for the season to cut costs but I hope I am wrong. I have seen MJ open in previous seasons with the base depth they are reporting now. Copper is following another annoying practice of opening terrain for the weekends and closing it down and having minimal terrain open for people who ski during the week when it is not crowded. These early season limited terrain opening games are very annoying. I'm not sure if it is economically driven or what is going on. Hopefully things will change starting this weekend now that the forcast looks more favorable for skiing.
On the other side of the spectrum, Loveland now has lifts 1,2,3,4,6,7 open to the public (only 2 lifts remain closed) with tons of terrain open including expert terrain. This will bring a well-deserved boost to an under-rated ski resort's business! A Loveland season pass would have been a good investment this year.

You have to keep in mind the variability of snow this time of year. Some of the runs that were open one day were skied down to weeds and rocks by the next The storm on Saturday/Sunday gave us a bunch of snow, sure, but the winds then moved it around to where it wasn't feasible to open new terrain. After it all settled out the past two days, we've been able to open more runs and lifts (Timberline today, the Bee tomorrow, not sure what's next but I'd anticipate more).

WP has announced that they will have top to bottom access w/ Eskimo & Zephyr at noon tomorrow.

It is good Copper is opening more terrain. Most of my irritation has lied with Winter Park's terrain opening games. I was just disappointed because I have skied/ ridden at Copper every Monday during November and have been looking forward to hitting the expert terrain off the Excellerator lift. I thought Copper might be following the same limited mountain openings pattern as Winter Park due to some unknown economic reason since they are operated by the same company. I should have known better, while I love to ski at Winter Park (when Mary Jane is open), Copper seems to be a much better run ski area than Winter Park. Thank you for the update.
Incidentally, lift 8 at Loveland was scheduled to open at noon today, that leaves only 1 lift not yet operating.
Sounds like winter is finally starting. Better late than never although these warm crappy Novembers are getting old. Hopefully Utah and other areas still awaiting snow will receive it soon.
