Mammoth *finally* got rid of their hideous and hard-to-read '80s map in favor of a wondrous James Niehues.

Well, I was there (in fact in that red cabin) when that happened. It occurred on the day that Aspen opened up their upper mountain for skiing in June. In fact, now that I look closer, I think that's my brother behind the cabin. From what I remember of it, we were under the spacer and remained there until the liftie stopped the gondola after 5 cars had already collided. I just remember thinking "I've always wondered how they do a full-line evacuation 300 feet in the air. It looks like I get to find out today..."

Usually it is juts a matter of a flat tire and generally you can hand push the cabins where they need to be. At the K-1 they used to have grates that were in line with the ski baskets and every once in awile a guest would put there poles in one and it would slide through and into the grating and wedge the gondola and the tires couldn't push it. By the time the corner guy stopped the lift you had a couple cabins kissing and if the guy on the corner was asleep, well lets just say it could be worse. I remember a full on sprint to the control pedestal when a hung over corner guy didn't understand me when I was yelling "Stop the Lift!"
Ahhh....those were the days....

Here's what we were skiing on today and yesterday for training. Luckily it doesn't get crowded with only employees skiing.

Actually, we're not open here quite yet. Employee-only stuff. We were training. Hyland opens after Thanksgiving, along with Buck Hill and other local places.

Definately looking like a good opening weekend for the NE resorts. It looks like Killington will even get skyelark/ bittersweet open for the weekend and Okemo will have at least a couple of top-to-bottom choices. The carpet quad (B Quad) is not scheduled for the weekend though.
