New Lift Construction Photos 2008

DakarNick's Photo DakarNick 04 Oct 2008

Hi all. I am pretty new and thought I would share my Keystone pics with you that I just took today. I took my KTM motorcycle up there, over Loveland Pass, I got snowed on on the way back on Loveland. Winter is coming!

I got there and snapped a few shots. The haulrope was moving at a very slow pace, no cabins on the line yet, but three on the storage rail at the bottom terminal. A few workers were on the mid-station roof, barely visible.

Not sure what to think of the Viper terminal... It's different.

Weren't the RR terminals going to be enclosed for non-skier guests? And does anyone know if there is going to be a ski bridge to the Village terminal or will you have to walk to the bottom? That seems like it would create long lines on Summit.

They originally said that it was going to be enclosed but it isn't looking like it. The concrete at the bottom terminal is heated so I'm assuming they have no intention of building a structure there.

Summit Express will probably be extremely crowded this year. The skier bridge is not planned until next season.

One would think that with having a high-capacity gondola, they would make it a priority to get some use out of it, however, I expect that many people will use the new mid-station and that will help alleviate crowds from Montezuma Express.

I agree. The mid is only about 25% of the way up Dercum's Mtn. I think most people with download from the mid or ski and walk to the village.

That is probably true, at least I hope so! Do you know if the gondola is going to have the DT grips or the newer model like they have on Beaver Creek's newest D-CTEC's?

In the second picture that Nick posted you can see that it will be a DT-108. It makes sense since they are already operating two lifts with DT-104 grips. In Beaver Creek's case, they had 4 lifts with A-104 grips, so it made since to order the A-108 grip on their gondolas.

Wow, that looks like a fun install! Just curious, did they already have electrical lines up there? Because I thought it would be a bottom drive to make the electrical access easier.

The top is the side with road access. It is kind of like Zuma Bowl in that the bottom is more remote.
