From a Hp/kW standpoint an uphill lift requires more power than a flat lift, which requires more power than a downhill lift (which can actually generate power)

You have to factor in weather conditions / operating Conditions also...

You have to remember that Amusement Park transport systems are just that - a joy ride. (400-500pph?)
Ski Areas are interested in transporting people up the hill with a capacity, i.e 2400 pph.
While I enjoy your interest in the old Von Roll VR-101 systems, you cannot expect a commercialy operating ski area to operate a VR-101 system as a "Museum Piece", or afford the price of the obsolete parts to operate such a system.

Haha except Lutsen--Yes, I know it's a Hall, but its like an old VR in some ways and I think it has a 400 PPH capacity.

Let's get back on topic.

They are flying towers in for Sheer Bliss right now from what I was told by a friend that was walking the mountain yesterday.

parts are very expensive for any vr 101.i appreciate your comment on my interest...i know now days its all about pph,but like i said there is NO originality in lifts now days.all the same.dont mean to bag on new lifts...sorry if i offended anyone....

Here are some pics of the loading carpet installation at Okemo. For those that don't know it is going on the South Ridge Quad B which is the quad on the left hand side looking up from the base area.

Why do they bother putting a loading carpet on one and not the other?

There is also the reason that not everyone needs a loading carpet to board a lift. Those that do can use the one pictured above, while those that don't have the option of using the other one. I also believe that only one lift operates during the weekdays.

Correct normally only the "B" quad opens on weekdays though sometimes they operate the "A" quad but never have I seen both operating on weekdays. They also said something along the lines that in a few years they are thinking about a HSS replacing the "A" Quad.

Here are some pics of the new Chondola being installed at Sundayriver. The towers are being flown to the lift line tomorrow. Next I will send Pic of the gondolas.

This chopper is hauling concrete for the towers. I understand that the chopper to place towers is even bigger. Ohh, and heres a pic of my best friend "Sam"

The Canyons flew towers for the new Timberline fixed quad (which, as you can see, is nowhere near the timberline, it's probably the lowest elevation lift on the mountain)
