Bottom few towers went up at PCMR for Crescent. They're white, not black like the Payday towers or like the rest of the new ones. It's going to be interesting how they direct traffic at the base area with the extra lift terminal where it is. It's always mobbed down there

Also, the red stripes on the lift terminals at PCMR were painted all white, presumably to match the UNI-GS, which doesn't lend itself to more than one or two paint colors the way the Stealth 2 terminals did

Interesting that you mention white vs. black towers, here are a few pictures from Northstar (screenshots of a video) that show the new towers for Martis Camp Express are half white and half black.

My question is who in the (he double hockey sticks) would order a new lift white?
After a little wet weather and rolling sheaves the nice white paint will have black streaks.
My second question is who is going to clean the nice white towers when the management decides that they don’t like the black streaks?

There were reports that the Oakland Zoo wanted to install a gondola from Doppelmayr CTEC. It could be that the old Von Roll might end up there, but this is nothing but speculation.

Many of the parts are getting bought back by D-CTEC for use on other Von Roll lifts. The towers are getting scrapped, and the cabins were all sold off.

Big progress at PCMR. Bottom terminal skeleton just about all up, from nothing a week ago. They posted a new album from today on the blog

Thanks for the updates. Now that I see they dug the base terminal down, it seems they eaten up a lot of real estate on a run that already is crowded and packed before the lift.

Even though it's not that old, the lift has A LOT of hours on it, probably one of the highest in North America. Therefore, when the time comes to do a complete overhaul, it's going to be very difficult to get all the parts required to fix up the lift. It was probably more cost effective to purchase a brand new lift.

I wonder just how many hours total she's had before being put to rest.

I think it has more to do with the fact that it broke down on a regular basis. Even though it was a neat lift, Keystone needed a more reliable system.

Thank you for post a website of several pictures of Crescent Lift. It is interesting. The bottom terminal sits right next to the apline coaster area. When Cresecent Lift opens then at Payday Lift...the line will be less. Maybe it is good for beginners?

I'm sure someone from "The Rock" can give you a more accurate count, but I believe the last I heard was in the 70,000 hour range.

pretty sad.vonroll built some great lifts.the disneyland skyway was 38 years old when it was taken out.over 200,000 hrs on a vr 101.i know in hrs the seaworld san diego vr 101 has well over 300,000 hrs.is there any difference between a gondola lift at a ski resort and a gondola at a amusement park logging many hrs.what one works harder??
