Tower 1 is going up on Blackcomb. The cable for Emerald Express is on the ground, presumably to accomodate P2P constructon. Also, the crossarm and lifting frame of a tower have been removed.

Doesn't look like anything's happened yet for Ski Team at PCMR. The snow is gone from the base area, but the old lift is still there and all the summer stuff is up at the base area. Wonder where the bottom terminal is going, there's not much extra space down there

Base is next to the base building for the alpine coaster. If you thought PC was ridiculous for traffic congestion, this will make that area just that much tighter. But another lift out of the base area is much needed.

Is it a flat lift or does it have any vertical rise?

Surprising how many lifts are still built with the CTEC chairs

Its been a while since I have been to the Zoo but from previous visits I would estimate 150-200 feet max.

I should go next time I'm visiting family in the springs as they have a membership to the zoo.

Go to www.tramformation.com to see a picture of one of our new tram cars. There is also a cool trailer for the video that will come out next year documenting the construction.

This is actually Bear Creek's 2nd quad. I assume when you learned there it was Doe Mountain.

More Keystone Construction Pics!!

The tower heads and assemblies have arrived!! It looks like there will be 32 towers with 2 compression towers (probably bottom and mid stations) and a good number of combination towers. Also there are quite a few parts in the gated lot for the bottom station.

Tower pics:

My first thought of the assemblies was just their sheer size. I always thought that sheaves were just little wheels and that catwalks were impossible to walk on unless you're a gymnast. Man was I wrong!

A 16-sheave compression assembly. I measured it out to be almost 30 feet long!!

Complete tower 9 and 10. Like I said before, they're gonna be big. I measured them out at over 100 feet each!

A few weeks ago the chairs from lift 7 were loaded onto a flatbed on their way to Boyne Highlands in Michigan.

That is kind of funny. Before I read this I was thinking to myself "I bet they send that lift to Boyne Highlands". Boyne H has not had a new lift in a few years and with Nubs getting a new lift this year, it is obviously time for an addition.

What in the world is Boyne H going to do with this lift? I don't know where they'd expand to and I don't know what lift they might replace or upgrade.

I am 90% sure that they will use this lift to expand the north face area. I know that they have wanted to put another lift back there to the right of the current quad for a while.

A cable position sensor:

Not quite. If you notice the black plastic block there, you'll see that it has a hole in the centre where the sensor will go once the lift is (mostly) finished. That way they don't get damaged in transit, either on the road or in the air.

There's a piece of wood inside this sheave. Why?

Probably to keep the sheave from rotating, for whatever reason.

Nice photos.
