And to add even more-
Quite a few auxiliary's have a torque converter which is a large range single speed automatic transmission.

True- hadn't thought about it that way, but it makes sense.
I didn't know that a)Riblet built lifts in BC, and b)that they built any with ring-and-pinion sets. You learn something new every day.

Well Riblet started in Nelson BC (way back when!!)... I should hope they built lifts here!! :)

Well, that was only because Mr. Riblet confused "streetcar tramway" with "aerial tramway".

1892. I forget that, as Riblet was a mining tramway firm long before they built chairlifts. But I thought they moved to Spokane in the early part of the 20th century, while they were still in the mining business.

Somewhere we were talking about Yan's Base 10 drives- here's their earlier 4200 'Black Death' drive in H-lift's motor room. If you can read it, there's a plaque on the cabinet stating that it was constructed 'specifically for Copper Mountain, 1976'. Why don't manufacturers still do that, I wonder?

I suppose, although it looks like a Timberline plaque and not a manufacturer plate. :)

Yea it's a Timberline plaque unfortunately. Although I think manufacturers do through in a free plaque if you do by a $15 million dollar lift. I've only seen them on aerail trams.

i wish all lifts had a small little plaque saying when they were buit, by who and the lenght and vertical of the lift. How much would that actually cost?

I wouldn't think it would cost that much, but then again for a custom plaque you have to make a mould for each individual one...

Riblet did plaques, but they were all generic, showing their patent numbers etc.

short, but it might actually make sense.

At dodge chair 6 (Clemintine) has a plaque, but i forget what it said. If i ever go back, i will check.

I was supposed to get the one from C-2 when we tore it down, but someone else snagged it on my day off :angry:
