We got some much needed snow in Summit County overnight, Breck had 9" at the base of peak 9, at the base of peak 8 we got at least 12", and over at Keystone we only got a few on the front but North Peak and the Outback received 8"+.

It would be nice to see a cloud of some kind in the Sierras. I can see the storm clouds up north, but not hitting Tahoe.
And the further south one travels in the Sierras, the drier it gets (as EagleAce has been attesting).
The snow on Mt. Baker sure looks good though...I am jealous!

C'mon EagleAce! You want snow so you can not only get things going at Badger, but also so you can get training on your CDL driving in the snow on Priest Grade on Hwy 120 by Groveland!
(Okay...the second part is
but if any of you are familiar with that grade, it can be hairy even in dry weather!)

Hey EagleAce! It's snowing in Reno (elevation 4500 feet)!!!! I think it's heading your direction. No chain controls yet, but anything is better than nothing.
Finally...real stuff in Tahoe instead of man-made! Hopefully, Tahoe can get about 2 feet of fresh stuff and some more lifts can be fired up!

Yeah...only Solitude spinning with one run. Hey, at least it is something.
Alpine Meadows finally opened with the Meadow and Kangaroo Doubles.
Boreal has Gunnar and Accelerator Express (finally!) open with two runs for day and night skiing.
Sugar Bowl has Jerome Hill Express open with one run.
Northstar has Arrow Express, Village Gondola, and Bear Paw Double up and running.
Heavenly has Dipper Express, Comet Express, Tamarack Express (for access to East Peak open runs ONLY), and the Gondola; with Orion, VonSchmidt, and Comet open as runs.
Mt. Rose is trying to make snow as fast as they can to open December 8.
Squaw has the Cable Car open to High Camp, but no skiing.
The snow itself mostly fell in the valleys and did not hit the peaks. Though we got an inch or so in Reno, nothing in the mountains. I have a feeling the west is in for a dry year.
I washed my truck on Wednesday; it seemed to bring some luck. Maybe I should wash it again...?

wash it again!!
I sure don't want another dry year!! It means another weak snowpack and an early, short rafting season this summer!

Nothing stayed at Tahoe either. The quick storm melted within a couple of hours. Just enough snow to snarl traffic since it was the first snow storm of the season.
We are in for a dry winter, I am afraid...and in for a long summer!

Its snowing in the central mountains of Colorado but its been so warm it's wet snow that probably wont last too long. I am interested to see how much south-western Colorado received from this latest storm since the forecast was for 1-4 FEET! Right now in Breck we have about 1" on the ground but its 29 degrees above town so I don't have much hope for real accumulation.
