What colours are not legal? Red = stop, Yellow = slow, Green = go; I thought those were the ones that mattered, I never did know for sure.

Haha, I can't remember what one sounds like! But it's annoying; and there's nothing I can find in the (Canadian) code about keeping it! On top of that every single Sonalert beeps for the same amount of time, so its not like there's no warning!

I don't mind the sonalerts, but the horn you can hear for about 1000 ft in every direction.

The bottom line was cost; the closest power to the top station is half a mile a way so to put in a trench and the wiring would have been pretty expensive. We thought it would have been worth it.

I don't mind the sonalerts, but the horn you can hear for about 1000 ft in every direction.

I hate those things too! Does the horn have an allen head adjustment screw on it? If so tighten that sucker up and your problems are solved.

I believe it is the signal button that the code changed.

I think there is something in the code about all buttons having to be different colors. I am not sure though.

I am not sure of the new ANSI color standards but the thing to keep in mind is that ANSI is not law it is a standard by which states do not have to write into law, some do such as colorado in part, but it is not a legal issue because the state regulatory body can either adopt ANSI B77.1 or choose to set their own standard. So for legality you need to refernece the state, or provencial regulations depending on who the authority having jurisdiction is.

Plus the Z98 up there may not have the same provisions in it as the B77 down here, although the two are pretty close.

Its been a busy week at Loon's South Peak. On Monday we flew tubes and tower heads for our two new lifts: 57 picks in ten hours. Today after completing an unrelated cable shortening (North Peak) I dropped in at the base of South Peak and found most of the steel and machinery for the bottom drive terminal has been assembled. Both detachable terminals are now ready for enclosures. Also, the return-tension bullwheel for the fixed grip was placed last week, the haul ropes arrived yesterday and the fixed grip drive terminal should arrive today or tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures.

What is with the offset towers? Is there going to be a midstation??

Not exactly. This lift will load skiers in both directions. The offset lines will allow skiers unloading at the drive end to pass underneath the opposite line of chairs which will load at the bullwheel. All the elements can be seen in the photo: Skiers load at the bullwheel (the empty mast is seen far right) and ride west to South Peak; The return line begins the offset at tower 3 (left side of frame), continues deflecting at tower 2 where riders unload and at tower 1 the offset is only in the sheaves (the loaded side is depressed and the unloaded side is supported), the ropes are level. At the return end of the lift, loading and unloading is at the bullwheel so there is no offset.

Liftmech or anyone else know anything about Crystal? They said the towers were to be flown this past Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Friday and they were going to let me know the day before. I didn't hear from them and there isn't anything about the towers being up on the website. Anyone know if it has been done? I think I'll go up on Sunday and see what's up.

ok I am at crystal now. Towers are still in the parking lot. They have actually taken the crossarms off of the tubes!
