New Lift Construction Photos 2007

1. This discussion belongs in the "New Trail Maps" topic, not in "New Lift Construction Photos."
2. What boundary/cliffs are you talking about? While the map may have changed, they pretty much are just moving the boundaries to reflect where the rope lines have actually been.

You said the boundaries moved near some cliffs. Where are you talking about on the map?

Extended forcast for this week to Monday the 22nd of Oct in the Crystal Mt area is for mostly cloudy skies and snow. Monday the 22nd calls for cloudy and snow with the high of 29F per the Seattle National Weather Service.
I think its safe to say that the Northway lift is done for the year. I hope I'm wrong!!! But I can't imagine how they could finish this project with so much left to do, and no time left to do it.
But,
The main page on Crystal's websit now reads" The new Northway lift will soon be a reality!" And they've released the new map on the website that includes the New lift and terrain. New Northway map...

I don't think it is done. The forecast for Monday is now Mostly Cloudy, 8,000 ft snow level.
Here is an article with pictures of the drive station being installed the day after I visited last weekend.

That chair will be really good since all the runs are diamonds or higher. That'll keep people who don't know how to ski or ride and who like to slip-slide out of there.

Lucky Shot has been a slow skiing area for well over ten years. I once had my pass pulled for 'blatantly ignoring' the slow banners there. It used to be a fun speed run, but it got so popular patrol had no choice but to enforce speed control there. Upper Quicksilver should have been a blue run long ago. Northway Ridge? Sounds like one of those 'trails' Crystal management 'created' a few years ago so that they could claim to have more runs. It never really existed as a skiable run, as far as I recall. This would have been around the same time they put five 'runs' in Powder Bowl, including the horrendously misspelled 'Cornus Creap'.
I think they'll get the new lift done this year, although the finishing touches and the load test will be pretty chilly. Last I heard everything that needed to be hauled up has been done, and (pardon the pun) it's all downhill from here.

Fly day for Northway is still on for the 22nd, no plans to postpone. With the forecast, sounds like a crappy day for all involved. Walking down that liftline with all the tools for tower installation, plus your hardhad, while it's snowing/raining/cold isn't fun at all.

Now it is supposed to be 63 and cloudy on Monday in Seattle, so it is looking better for Crystal as well.

Yep, 42 and partly sunny on Monday in the Crystal area. They better get all those towers in, this may be their last chance. Have they finished the footings for the top three towers yet?

I am planning on hiking/snowshoeing up tomorrow at Crystal and watching the helicopter install the towers from Right Angle Ridge. I haven't heard back from Crystal on what time it is going to be so hopefully it will be in the morning so I don't have to wait all day. Also I am hoping that the Chinook helicopter is not diverted to firefighting in LA since it looks pretty bad down there right now. Anyone know for sure that they are flying tomorrow?

Here is a peek of one of our Montana projects.
Weather has changed but sunshine is predicted next week.
This is a pulse chairlift....rails underneath are for opening the bubble only.

So I got up to crystal to find out that it is not fly day after all. Not sure why, weather was perfect and all the footings are done. Apparently it is now scheduled for November 2nd. Anyways they are done driving up, the road has a foot of snow on it. They are moving the last parts, the lift shack stuff, up by snowcat. The top terminal is complete and the cable spool is in place. The concrete was just being poured for the lift shack. I will post pics later.

Okay, here are some pictures... I am really not sure what they are waiting on for the tower flying, everything is in place and the weather is good.

Helicopter Company's make money being on Fire-Fighting contracts / Major construction projects. They set ski lift towers as a courtesy/ side job. I have been on lift projects where the helicopters left in the middle of a concrete pour because they had "contractual commitments".
