Have you ever heard of a real land yacht? It's a sail boat on land, they are used at the beach or dry lake beds.

It's not too bad, love the comfort though! Tranny is going on it I think though  Might need to get a new car before winter.

Here's the car I've had since 1988.

1987 Chevy Cavalier RS
213,800 miles
original engine & tranny
still averages 35 mpg
runs like a champ!
usually sleeps in the winter; it's pretty much a summer cruiser
was semi-retired until a :cursing: :censored2: deer totalled out my other car! :cursing:

In another thread that was going off topic, I thought I would just continue it here.

The door sticker in my 2000 Tahoe lists it being manufactured in Wisconsin, while I believe the 2001 to the current model were made in Mexico. Looking at the 2008 Consumer Reports Car Reports Guide, it lists the 2000 Tahoe as having a 'very good' electrical system and then the 2001 to 2004, it's rated as poor to very poor. My dad's Denali was manufactured at the same plant, so my guess is that GM started manufacturing the Escalades and Denalis at the Wisconsin plant after the new plant in Mexico opened which currently produces the Yukons and Tahoes.

A new plant in Mexico? So much for made in the united states.
With that said I have heard that Honda of all companies uses more american made parts on their cars that any other brand. Kind of funny I think.

A better term than manufactured is assembled, as components come from all over.
Check your VIN number, for domestic auto manufacturers: if the first digit is 1-USA, 2-Canada, 3-Mexico
My 04 Dodge Cummins crew cab was assembled in Mexico

The Chevy Silverado's and GMC Sierra's are assembled in Canada.

American car manufacturers decided to open up plants outside the country after NAFTA passed as they faced more pressure from foreign imports. BMW, Honda and Toyota decided to build their plants here in the United States so they wouldn't have to deal with tarrifs most likely.

I believe GM is starting to focus on long term profits by going back to its original roots. Its newest plant built for Subaru opened here in the United States a few months back.

A large number of dodges are made in Mexico as well I personaly have not had any problems with my truck other than a mistake in the factory casting in the rear end(USA made) and a dumb :censored2: dealer screwing up the first replacement. I am still on my original battery, alternator, water pump, serpentine belt, and clutch with 120k miles. The only things I have done to the engine is basic tune ups and oil changes on a gas engine.

A lot of VW's are assembled in Mexico as well. Mine has nothing but problems, hoping to get rid of it within the next few months.

she's an 82. it has 10k on the new engine and tranny. I will be providing video of her soon. The chassis has 800k miles on it. it's on it's 3rd engine now. and 5th tranny. Nothing beats a 500.00 dollar daily driver.

;)

btw it's a 6.2L DIESEL :)

Those old Chevy's are the best. Wish my 99 Chev was as good as those old ones, it seems none of the newer trucks really last, I've driven them all, Ford, Dodge, Chevy, even Toyota and Nissan, all have had problems, Chevy giving me the least of problems so I'll probably get me another one soon.

I'm sorry. Good luck with the parts, our '85 6.2 we use as a work truck gets parts changed at least once a week. Water pumps, glow plugs, starters, and other various esential parts and the '80s chevy diesels are notorious for eating power steering belts.
