Poma guy eh? The tunnel is the element rails, picture a Poma station with nothing in the middle, just a walkway along the inside of the tire rail. On the ET's the return station only had a tunnel clad in all the way along the tire rail, the carriage was out in the weather, Here is a shot of the top of our Ridge 1989 ET

I pre-op'd a lift like the one in the picture above when I was a liftie at Brighton. It definitely was like a tunnel in there! Thanks for the clarification guys. How's servicing the terminals on that thing Mike?

It's a touch tight for a big guy, but it's pretty easy to get at everything.

Those who've seen the Doppelmayr Worldbooks may have noticed some of their European installations still have return terminals that look like tunnels. Some of their late '80's detachables in the US where tunnels. The label "tunnel" for UNI-GS machinery must be a hold over from the days of cramped enclosures, UNI-GS's are S P A C I O U S ! But also, the machinery itself: tire conveyor, running rail, guide rail and O/C rail form a kind of tunnel around the traveling grip.

So that's what it looks like. I'm supposed to start tearing the terminal apart in two days and believe it or not that's the first image I've seen of it. It'll be fun, all right.

The access road is almost to the top terminal location. So far there is nothing dug up at the top as far as foundations.
