Heh, I wish I could do stuff like that! These are from flickr - here's another from almost the same location! Is that a little service platform I see hanging down right at the springbox? Looks handy.

They are, it's a grip service basket that rotates 180 out of the way when you're not moving grips. Still have a few more lifts to build them onto.

I heard somewhere that you guys in BC have to move grips even during the winter- that true? I saw similar platforms on the old Muellers at Grouse.

Move them and pull test them every 500 hours, Thats what Doppelmayr calls for on Fgs. T Bar is at 250 hours, or about once a month. I do our Mueller at 500 hours as well.

Oh so that's what we're getting ourselves into with the new FG. Our Mueller only gets 500 hours or so on it a year so it's a once a year thing. The T-Bar with the 19mm rope is every 100 hours.

Here is something you don't see very often. it is an american steel and wire 2 sheave assembly modified into a rosta by mueller. If you can't tell, this is from the mad river glen single. This probably isn't interesting to those who have been to mad river but it is to me. Picture courtesy of chairlift.org.

Well, today I went to Copper Mtn. I did a little hiking and got some great pictures! Unfortunatley a thunderstorm with a lot of lightning, that I swear touched down on Timberline Express, cut my visit short. The Flyer was running the work chair, so John must have been busy!
Here are some of the pictures:

Your guess is as good as ours. The lifltine is cut and the area for the learning centre at the top has been cleared. Other than that, ???? I'm still getting used to the new copper colour. I like the Eagle that way, not so sure about the Flyer. the new joke is that it'll be easy to find in a whiteout- just drive towards the orange glow! Charlie, you must have been there while we were changing sheaves near the top. We got our of the work chair just in time, that thunderstorm hit the Flyer twice and I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to start the lift tomorrow.

Couple shots of the Summit chair from SilverStar (sorry Mike, I would have stopped by BW but was out on a family reunion!)
Seems SilverStar still uses a type of the original deropement detection switches - we've replace these things with Doppelmayr brittle forks.
Sure is a long way from their unload ramp to the safety gate and then to the bullwheel!

I must say that I like the copper/orange on Flyer a lot better than the maroon. As for Eagle, I'm pretty impartial. Just keep Excellerater and Super B green.

1600 HP. 2 Turbos. A lot of buttons. What am I talking about?!
How about the Eagle Bahn's motor room, which I was fortunate enough to take pictures of today. It was plenty loud down in that vault!
Here's a few: (sorry for the blurriness, it was too dark for my camera to focus well)

Speaking of random lift photos, Mikest2, do you have any pictures of the Cliff Chair? The only pictures I have seen of it were in the Doppelmayr Worldbook. I remember it having an odd mix of Doppelmayr and Garaventa CTEC parts. Also, do you know why Big White and Silver Star buy lifts from both L-P and D-CTEC? It seems like all the fixed grips are Doppelmayrs and the detachables are Leitner-Pomas.
