Talked to my dad last night and he's currently cutting the run portions. He said he should be finished this week. The liftline has been finished for a while; it's just such rugged terrain that the process doesn't happen overnight.

I'll be going to Vail and Steamboat on Friday and Saturday, respectively. I will definitely try to take pictures of the Christie Express at Steamboat...doubtful on Vail pics because of the location of the lifts.

Now who's thinkin'?
As far as getting lift parts to rugged locations- there's this cool invention, sort of flies, like- ever seen one?

I stopped by Brundage yesterday and saw the parts for the new lifts. I did not take any pics of the new lift, but did take some of Easy Street and Blue Bird Express.

I drove by, but there was a huge fire nearby and it was really smokey so I did not stop. The mountain looked like it was not very big. I am kind of suprised that they haven't put in the middle lift yet, it seems like the two sides of the mountain are pretty far apart.

Skier, in the list, you said the used chair at Cypress is called the Olympic Chair. I have never seen that name used before. On Cypress's poster, it is called the Black Mountain Quad Chair. Have you heard elsewhere or did you just make a mistake?

Yup, someone pointed out my error before, it is Black Mountain Quad.

Big Sky Installs New Ski Lift on Lone Peak
News - Resorts
Big Sky, MT - Montana's Big Sky ski resort is installing the new Dakota Lift on Lone Peak this summer. The triple chair will improve access to Bavarian Forest and the recently opened 212 acres of Dakota Territories, adding more capacity to Big Sky/Moonlight Basin's combination that creates the biggest acreage of any ski resort in the U.S.
With the new Dakota Lift, Big Sky will boast an uphill lift capacity of 25,000 riders per hour on a ski mountain that only sees an average of 2,000 skiers and riders per day. Big Sky will offer 3,812 acres of skiable terrain accessed by 21 lifts and Lone Peak Passholders have access to over 5,500 acres on the combined ski area with Moonlight Basin.
The Dakota lift is located on the south face of Lone Mountain below Liberty Bowl. The fixed-grip lift will load below the Hippy Highway and the top station is located near Gate 2 of Bavarian Forest. The Dakota lift is 3,100 feet long and has a vertical rise of 1,210 feet. The lift ride time will be eight minutes.
Dakota Territories is primarily open bowl skiing at an intermediate angle. The run-out includes well-spaced, natural glades that border Bavarian Forest, which offers endless variations of black diamond glades through the trees that are both natural and thinned. Both runs contain plenty of natural rollers and kickers before reaching the bottom.
The lift is the first half of a two-lift system providing a second access point to terrain on Lone Peak, currently being serviced by the Lone Peak Tram that skiers have long lamented for only carrying 15 riders per cabin. The second lift, planned for construction next year will take skiers up to the Yeti Traverse accessing Big Sky's famous wide-open, steep, above tree-line runs like Marx, Lenin and the Dictator Chutes.
This is a skier's mountain first and foremost, said Big Sky Resort General Manager, Taylor Middleton. Skiers have flocked from across the world for the massive terrain off the Lone Peak Tram. Our new Dakota lift just makes America’s biggest skiing even bigger.
I bet it is a Doppelmayr CTEC lift. Or it could be the Southern Comfort lift reborn? Boyne is going a bit crazy this summer with new lifts and resorts.
