Great pictures. I've taken this week off from work, so my wife and I are planning a trip up to Crystal later this week for some hiking.

I heard that all the tower holes have to be dug by hand, because there is some reason they can't blast. Sounds hard

Why couldn't they of come up with "Global Cooling"?

Well there are no roads in the area and the terrain is steep. Considering that no lift parts besides the comm line have arrived, I think they are going to be taking a long time to be ready for towers and terminals. The top terminal location is literally just a rock at the top of Northway Peak and no grading has been done yet. It would make sense that it is being done by hand, where did you hear that?

It is not that uncommon for tower foundations to be dug by hand... if you can't get an excavator down the entire line. Blasting is expensive and is not always needed.. just send a couple guys down the line and get it done! No big deal.

I know a guy who works there year 'round. He said so.

Now why would they be pouring concrete around the new towers instead of bolting the towers to a foundation?

I can't remember the term for that... poured in place? As opposed to a form and anchor bolts. Our YANS were done the same way.

How did Silver Star get their towers up before us! We're closer to the border :)

Ask Cliff, I think he was placing concrete when we were drinking at the Grand !

Check out the photos of Silverlode on WBSKI's site. http://www.v4.skiing....php?photoid=82

I find it interesting that the Doppelmayr steel tube for the Galaxy II terminal says Made in Korea.

Hey Skier, when are we going to see some updated Northway pics? Aren't you going up there once every two weeks now?
