Cameron, I think the important thing is what you want to do with the lift, We invested heavily in the Telus for example. We bought new carriers, grips, some assemblies, all the yokes were fitted with lifting frames and platforms, rebuilt all the remaining assemblies, the haul rope was two years old, the gearbox was just rebuilt, a new rollback brake was integrated, not a bearing wasn't changed. We should get a lot of years out of it. We now have a lift that is close to new, but it didn't come cheap. It is dependable and up to standard. We may put a smarter (newer) drive in it in the next couple of years, but We're still enjoying learning about the Asea Tyrect B.
I guess you only reap what you sow.

Mike, Are you referring to an old analog Tyrak 8? If so you will have a lot of fun with it. If it's anything like ours you just need to hope nothing goes wrong with it. 12 years of experience with ours leads me to crossing my my fingers a lot. Fortunately we are replacing Wizard's drive this year leaving Solar as the only one left.

Back on topic. We have Black chair rusting away in the boneyard, I think people have finally let go of thoughts of reinstalling it.

A million may be a little high, but 50k is way low, and it does depend a lot on the lift.
The earthwork for our new lift is already higher than $50k, there's lots of other costs too..
Electrical engineering, structural engineering, electrical service, etc, etc.. Code updates can be quite expensive as well, if the towers don't have lifting frames, those will have to be added, brakes may need upgrading, additional towers (last quote I saw for a sheave assy was about $1000 a sheave).

I also believe new code requirements coming out state that the lift will need a digital drive, no more analog drives on relocations.

No Rob, I do have a Tyrac 8 in my 1986 Dopp FG Quad, The Telus was origionally the Horizon at Panorama, 1975 I think. This is a series 70 Tyrect B.

Maybe Kendall did a lot of the installation in house so that could lower the price.

Are there any installations out there with two analog drives that have to communicate to drive two motors simultaneously?

There are many such setups in tugboats and barges in the southeast. Many have two drives coupled to serve a single (really large) motor.
See the Gulf Electroquip site.

Where is this coming from? There's nothing in B77.

From the hopes and dreams of ABB distributors and a few industry players.
A specific technology cannot be mandated, though performance requirements might suggest the change.

I know it is :offtopic: but does anyone know the most common drive system found on Doppelmayr CLD-260 lifts, and Doppelmayr Uni lifts?

260 is actually the gearbox size, if you are referring to an ET (1989-1991 or so) in Canada, they would likely have an Asea Tyrac L, previous to that was likely an Asea Tyrac 8, and my 96 uni has an ABB DCS500.

Jimmi-

The Stowe Gondola in Vermont is an early nineties Poma that originally had a pair of Fincor 500 HP drives. I'm quite sure that they were digital. I believe the technology was called "load sharing". The two motors each drove their own input on a single gearbox.

Awesome! We have two ABB drives with the same setup. The only difference is the motors are 600HP. Also two 700HP AUX engines for backup drives

We have two dual drive-single gearbox setups. B lift has ABB DCS-500s, as does the Flyer. The Flyer's are retrofits, replacing two old Fincors. I don't know if the Fincors were analog or not.

you named one, I also saw Summit at Willamette Pass.

in WA, I saw

LSA at Stevens
Dinosaur at Summit
Thunderbird at Summit
Beaver Lake
Big Bill
360 Bowl

Rendezvous at Crystal

Chair 2&3 at White Pass

Chair 2 at Mission Ridge

I am hoping that the photos are all old and that the areas have been cleaned of the previous lifts but maybe a few of you who frequent those areas could share some more insight???

What is the LSA you refer to?
The lifts at White Pass were completely removed (there may be a few towers left from 3 for night lighting) and were scrapped, I believe. Chair 3 does have the drive terminal left, now that you mention it.
