11 is very old, but 2 was the last CLD-260 ever made in 1989.

Since both have obviously passed not only pre-season inspections but also the random inspections throughout the years they couldn't be "falling apart" as you say. Granted an older machine will require more maintnence but they are still in good working order, I must conclude that it is simply your luck I have never had a stop on either that was longer than a normal stop due to a mis-load/unload or switching to Aux and I know that I ski Vail much more often than you do.

Last time I was at vail they had replaced more than half of the chair backs on 11 and many of the grips had new jaw assemblies so I doubt thay are removing any of the old Dopplmayr HSQ soon. Secondly, from what I understand they are about to start refitting the older lifts.

Thanks for the praise to Copper lift ops I spend much of the season triing to get our lifties to perform well. The trouth is that HSS's and 90deg loaders confuse people so SG being a six and 90 loading needs lifties who talk alot and coach people constently. Good anticipation is key if you are on your game you can spot an situation befor it reaches your load board.

Here is the timeline for that vintage and manufacture of lift at Vail/ Beaver Creek:
1985: 4,7,11,16 installed. Former (Yan triple version) of lift #4 was also moved to replace #3 (the Riblet double version)

1986: 6 installed at Beaver Creek (Former triple #6 was also moved to create current #4)

1988: 8 and 21 installed

1989: 2 installed

Yikes, those lifts are getting old! I still remember that brochure which was sent to all of the people who had some type of discount card announcing 4,7,11, & 16 were to be built. The former 11 (Riblet double) and the former 16 (Yan double) were not that old when they were removed (1974 and 1976 respectively), does anyone know where those lifts ended up?

We will probably start to see more projects similar to the Pine Marten Express rebuild last Summer at Mt. Bachelor as those 80's Doppelmayrs age and parts get hard to find. They still are my favorite lifts though. I have gotten stuck on Leitner-Poma lifts which are a lot newer than the Dopps for in excess of 15 minutes also. Super Gauge at Mary Jane is the biggest offender.

Some forms are in place, with some foundations poured... Parts of drive structure & restrainer bars showed up last week - some sheave assemblies today!

I'd say as long as quicksilver for the line but it is supposed to go 550ft a min which is equivalent to 2.8 m/s

Will they still use the Northway shuttle bus?

Apparently no Northway shuttle anymore, and the ride time will be about 11 minutes. It will be the longest and most vertical lift at Crystal.
