I would say that 6 towers will need to be relocated and that there will be a sheave alignment turn, similar to what's used on the Cabriolet at The Canyons.
However, this seems like a very odd project when this lift is 22 years old.

This is an odd one. I could see moving it forward or back like Jackson Hole did a few years back with Teewinot, but sideways? What for?

Hmmmmm...I was just there and I remember that there is a giant construction project off to the left of those pictures. Maybe there is no longer space for the lift line on that side of the base, so they need it to be on the other side?

She may be 22 years old, but there is still another 22 years worth of life left in her, or at least Vail thinks so. Glad to see she will still be around for awhile yet. Last check they still had 2 YAN's and 2 Riblets running, I'd imagine they would upgrade those or remove those before getting rid of their mid 80s HSQ's

Too bad The History Channel/Discovery Channel isn't filming the work for it's "Mega Mover's" series. While not a mega move compared to some of the structures they tackle in that show, it would be some really good "lift porn" for those of us with this ski lift obession to get us through the warm weather months?

That lift, along with Vails other CLD-260's are in very good running condition. However, I believe that Vail plans to replace them all within the next several years. A major reason for that is the fact that parts are harder to find for old lifts, and maintenance costs are high.
Does anyone have pictures of the Lions Head development that are current? I haven't been there since January.

What speed are they going to have it at? Not to start a new discussion, but I've never seen a high speed fixed grip lift.

Actually, those CLD-260s are sicker than you think. The Vista seems to be running fine, but 2 and 11 are breaking down left and right. After being stuck on each of them for 30+ minutes for various issues, you realize that they aren't in great condition. Every time I ride them, I wonder if I should call my friend and tell him to hold the table at Two Elk. 4 and 7 are also getting a bit weary.
