Old Doppelmayer centre pole triple. Like the Diesel Easter chair at Kimberley.

Riblet centre pole double. First lift I ever rode, first lift I ever operated. Until the HSQ came along, they were the only way to get up the hill.

I like all lifts but for surface you cant beat a HS Detach poma. I also really like riding on vintage lifts so my vote would be for singles.

I was kind of suprised i would expect hss/hse to be more popular. I prefer quads and the especially the rare high speed triples. The reason being is you can meet other people on your chair without having to yell way over to the other side of the chair. As for surface lifts, i voted carpet simply because i wish they were around back when i learned how to ski, would have made it much easier for me :cursing:

Although I really like hsq's I voted for doubles. I just like the privacy of a double chair. I wish I could ride a hsd.

i have loved yan lifts for the longest time and really like their hsq's even though they have been modified, espicially the one at mount snow because poma did not put the gigantic roof on the lower terminal making it look almost original

Do not laugh at me  I have been skiing for a long time, and I rode Rilbet lifts until in 1991, Brighton installed Dopplemayr high speed quart. First thing, I saw the chairs moved sooooo slow when they turned round, which I thought the chairs go up slow. Then I went back to Rilbet Lift, and I watched a high speed chair moved, how much it goes slow or fast, and well, the chair zoomed fast than rilbet lift. I remember at Disneyland in California and Park City old gondola, the gondolas got off the haul rope and it made them moved slow. I said "WOW! that is better technigue than old things." Now, I like high speed quad lifts than any thing, and I like to sit alone on quad chair, and I feel more comfort and peace.

I like doubles but they can be pretty tricky if you are loading two people and the rope speed is fast. I remember the Tee-Pee Town Double at Sunshine Village in Alberta. It was fast (2.61 m/s) and I almost fell of because it was running so fast. I'm from Ontario and I am just not used to fixed grip lifts running that fast. I still had a good laugh after we left the station  although we did not ride that lift again.

I chose the HSQ in the end

I think I'm going to have to go with Triple Chairs. I like FG lifts, and 3 is my favorite number!

I love Singles, because they are very rare. They are my favorite type of lift.

As for makes, I've always liked FG Yans, because I find 'em simple to understand, yet innovative. It's too bad they aren't made anymore. :crying: To me their fixed grip lifts are the '57 Chevy of the industry. Ours were built back in the day when things were simple.

Although I'm not old, I like old lifts. The best is C.2 at Alpental. You ride up on a nice HSQ thinking how nice these things are then apon exiting you reach the summit lift, which is a old Riblet double center bar that slowly works its way up then down then up again. Only bad part is the top ramp, it's long steep and icey and bad for snowboarders to clip in. Gotta love those old Riblet center bars!!

80's FG Yans are my favorite type. From an operator's standpoint I like their simplicity. My biggest beef with centerpole Riblets is I get hit in either the head or the butt when I get on em!

Good old T-Bars!

The few ones I took have always been faster than the FG chairlifts around. Of course there are HS chairlifts. But they aren't as old-school-cool

I know it makes a difference what the lift serves, but besides that whats your favorite. Mine's a double and a Ropetow.
