Anyone know if it would be a Doppelmayr CTEC or Leitner-Poma at Squaw? They have had Doppelmayr, Poma, and CTEC detachables before, and their most recent lift, the learning center one was a D-CTEC.

What is the plan for Sugar Bowl? Crow's Nest?

The Panoramic Express at Winter Park is a go for this summer and construction started this week for it.

It looks like the new Bear Chair and South Side Chair at Brundage will be Doppelmayr CTEC lifts. Bear will be a Sprint drive terminal and South Side will have a Uni-Star drive.

I count 29 lifts for Doppelmayr CTEC this summer, and there probably will be more.

Keystone also has Summit Express (everywhere) and Ruby Express (at DV) trademarked. But the higher-profile gondola at Sun Valley might not make them happy
As for who's building it, Sun Valley ownership loves Doppelmayr so much they put fake Uni-M terminal skins on all the older triple chairs at Snowbasin

I know this will be a little off topic, but I want to air one quick grievance. I can't stand seeing "registered trademark" next to everything at a ski area. It really cheapens the experience to see "Breck Connect Gondola ®".

I can't agree more garthd.

Ski resorts provide a service, not a good so I can't really see the big deal with trade marking everything other than the resort's name. It probably won't be long until resorts start suing one another over similar names, kind of like Starbucks and McDonalds have done because they feel the consumer can get the names mixed up.

:offtopic: SPAM the meat company is now suing SPAM Assassin, the company that came up with the term SPAM for junk e-mail because it feels junk e-mail hurts SPAM's image.

So when was the name Ruby Express, ( why not the other hsq's?) trademarked by DV.
Deer Valley does not , to the best of my knowledge trademark the names of chairlifts.
Every lift there has been named after mining claims, and or people. I was there when both Rubys lifts were installed, there was never any talk of trade marking the name.
If this is the case why didn't DV trademark the ski run name Tycoon, yet PCMR named a run Tycoon , off Mc Conkeys.

Maybe Oldschool can give us the word. :)

My post wasn't clear enough, I meant that Keystone trademarked the Summit and Ruby Express names, when DV also has a Ruby Express and several other resorts have a Summit Express lift

Little trademark signs next to the lift name on a trail map do look really bad. I haven't noticed it anywhere else, is Vail Resorts the only group that trademarks lift names?

Did you consider that is where the resort puts thier trademark on the map? That the map or any likeness is trademarked.?

The trademark is likely more for the purpose of dealings within the company. Vail probably just doesn't want any other vail resort to name a chair "Ruby Express", or "Vista Bahn Express", etc.

Even more :offtopic: the term spam came from people recording the entire spam song from Monty Python and sending it to thousands of random emails.

Although I am not 100% sure, I heard from DV employees that the new lift at DV (a HSQ) will be called Daly Express. The lift will be west of the current Empire Express lift.

That's kinda strange, it won't take you to Daly Bowl/Chutes. I didn't hear this from anyone but I figured it would be Lady Morgan Express, or a new name

I had the same reaction when I found it out, too. Although, I could end up being totally wrong...but that's what they said.

The Mt. Ripley chair is a used Riblet double from Aerial Eng. I have been told its construction was started last summer, but paper work challenges slowed the project. Oh, well, one more year to ride the T-bar.

Hey Jon,

Talked to Nick yesterday and that riblet is suspose to arrive in May. First time I have ever been there. Pretty cool area.
I was up to Bohemia and took a look at those lifts. Yikes!.

from a reliable source, concerning the new DV lift going in.

What was told to me,
It is a new lift, not a replacement. It will be to the west of Empire and the top stattion will be below lady morgan bowl. It is a lift purchased by developers so they can market and sell ski-in/ ski-out residences and condos.
No name for it yet.

Why do you need a chair to the top of Dayly's. You can already ski to it from the top of Empire. Put a chair in there, and your going to have so much trouble with lower level skkiers getting into something over their head. Dalys doesn't need a lift.

I don't think Daly needs a lift either, I just thought it would be weird if they named the lift Daly Express when doesn't go there. But it sounds like the name is still undecided anyway.
