There is some snow that has fallen here tonight but not much. The forcast is for less than a half an inch for the night which is about what we have so far. Breck will probably open a couple of runs off beaver run as they usualy do opening weekend. But the only snow that I have seen them blowing has been on Columbia and Bonanza.

Awesome. Hopefully I can ski Copper this year in January. I couldn't go last year due to a blizzard that closed I-70. :( Buck Hill will not open this weekend as our long streak of 32 and below temps left us with 60 and 70 for a few days so all of the snow is currently gone. :(

Finally, I have been on my cross country skis. Today I went up to Cypress after it had been dumped on with lots of snow. They are packing down the snow, whether they are planning to open soon or preserve the snow when rain comes, I dunno.

Ski Utah Kicks Off Ski Season

November 11th, 2006 @ 10:06pm

(KSL News) -- It won't be long before Utah's ski resorts open up for the season and tonight Ski Utah hosted a free party at the Gallivan Center to get everybody excited.

This inaugural "Utah SnowJam 2006" has been going on for the past six-hours, and featured live music by several bands. It also includes equipment displays and demos and prizes and appearances by several Olympic athletes, who were signing autographs.

All the resorts had stuff to give away.

Hilary Reiter, Dir. of Communications, Ski Utah: "We're trying to convey the fact that Salt Lake is the United States' biggest and most amazing ski town, and trying to get the whole local community pumped for the ski season."

For each of the past two seasons, Utah's resorts have piled up more than 600 inches of snow, and of course, they're hoping to do it again!

We've had a dusting recently and we're expecting more this coming week. However, most of it doesn't stay. The only place it stays is in the north.

Here in South Zionland (or is it Deseret?), it's getting a bit worrisome - no decent snowfall yet. Warm temperatures and/or high winds have hampered snowmaking.

Looks like we might be having hamburger for Thanksgiving!

Winter came again last night... we're up from 51cm to 75cm. And I'm hoping the lift operators will be cleaning those chairs.. :) If not, it will be one of us!

About 30 inches of new snow, and still continue snowing. Here in Salt Lake Valley, there is raining a lot and up the mountain, it is snowing. Alta, Brighton, Solitude and Snowbird will open this week.

Brighton and Baker were on the Today show this morning as a clip about the snow. Baker's lifts were turning, but the chairs going down were covered in snow and clear going up.

In the last 48 we have gotten about 10" in Breck but with the high winds I-70 is closed from Georgetown to Vail and Loveland pass is closed as well. They are saying that they may not even reopen until tomorrow morning. The snow is still comming too.

40mph sustained with gusts of 60+. It has calmed a bit but the snow is still comming down and visibility is still poor. I-70 has just a 10 mile portion between copper and silverthorne but silverthorne-Georgetown and Copper-Vail is still closed.
Heres the CDOT camera on top of vail pass.
