I often wonder where rich people get money from?
My friend works as butler at DV for 19 years, he loves DV very much, and he told me that he met Steve Young, Princess Diana, many TV actors, actresses, lawyers, doctors, investors, etc. Some of them live their condos in DV area. He is lucky man.

You know how it goes. A high speed quad a year keeps the rich people here.

i can tell you that the only possibility of a new lift at D.V. next summer is to the skiers left of empire, with the return being in daly canyon. in fact the lift line has already been started being cut. but nothing is set in stone/

lastchair and truckintr, thank you for a good advice.
Oh how true. However, Ski School and Ticket sales, brings the most money into the resort. How do you thinK the instructors get new uniforms just about every other year, yet lift ops and guest services has to use thiers for 3 years maybe 4.

A butler? When did DV offer that as a paid poistion? I worked there 15 years, and i never heard of that as a paid poistion offerd by the resort. They have Wait Staff, bussers, resturant aattendants, but no butlers.
Bet he was employed by the Stein Erckson Lodge, a seperate company from the resort.
i just looked at thier job opening for this season, no butler poistion listed.
Anyways DV was created to run like a high end hotel, that Egar and Polly Stern, onced owned. They were sick of skiing at Aspen, and the cold burgers, and tasteless wine, and un caring staff. DV and their staff of 2,000 are the results. Why do you think they are always #1 in the rankings of food, service, groomed runs, year after year? No body comes close. All try to imatate, and they fail. The Exec Chef, has been a guest Chef at a famous resturant in New York, The Director of Food and Beavege, studied in Franch.

Hmm lets see your using an invention known as a computer. Somebody had to invent it, and the software to run. The people who did just that, are the rich ones, and thats where they got thier money.

Usually via a rental program.....most instructors are around for several years at best....and most directors know how to make the most out of these guys.....rent them a kjacket every year for say 50 bucks....comes out of the first paycheck.....put a CC# on file in case they bolt with it......at end of year .....hold last paycheck AND bonus until jacket is returned....ski school cleans the jackets in the summer and reissues to the new hires at start of next year....after 2-3 years the jackets are usually sold to the wearer for 100 bucks.....voila.... jacket paid for and a new order on the way....you can get great deals on ski school clothing when buying more than a 100 units....

We dont have to pay for our uniforms unless we damage them in doing something other than line of work. They are replaced as needed and I think that they are usualy retired after three years or as needed, when they are retired I think that they just give them to employees. They do hold our last paychek until the uniform is returned.
What are bonuses?
Only kidding of course but as far as I am aware my department doesn't get bonuses.
But we are

they give us supervisors our gear....but you never know.....being an eastern resort.....how many of these young college kids will decide that after the christmas season....they had had enough.....we also had to put a strict policy on where they could wear them....didnt look good to the guests to see those coats out in bars every night....

I finally asked my friend about his position at Deer Valley, truckintr, you are right. He works as restrurant attendant at Snow Park Lodge, and Stein Erickson Lodge needs him as private club butler related to Sundance Festival for only two weeks.
Truckintr, what you were position there for 15 years. And where you live?

Winter Park has signed off on the HSS to replace Timberline. Its alignment is going to be from the base of Sunnyside to skier's left of where Timberline currently drops skiers off.
timberline will be simultaneously removed and will replace arrow.

Yes, The Highridge HSQ would service the Highridge condominiums below the Snowshed slopes. This has been an idea in the works for a while from what I have heard because Killington has been wanting to offer more ski in/out ability to the owners of those condos for the longest time. I'm not sure what singles those particular condos out from the rest, but the overall location of the lift does seem practical as there already is a trail that goes down into that area.

Sunnyside is staying for the time being. But it is on the list to be replaced, possibly by Zephyr when Zephyr is upgraded to a HSS.
fortress apparently approved Timberline's replacement prior to the buyout, otherwise we were going to lose the deal on the lift.
