Is that terminal from Snowbird longer than other UNI-GSs? I guess there's two terminal lengths. I only counted the windows but Peruvian has 17 windows and Sultan at DV has 14

I'm going to guess that due to the high winds at the upper part of the mountain that the bottom terminal has the ability to park carriers inside it. However, it also could be that the lift is both bottom drive and tensioned.

It is definately top driven so that won't explain it. Remember the vault drive was being built at the top?

Yep I do. I just wasn't thinking that much about the lift when I posted that.

I would gess that the bottom has a long terminal while the to is top his getting the short terminal with the powerplant needed for the lift the valt drive became nessary due to space concerns in the smaller terminal. The longer bottom terminal helps if the lift goes over terrain where it can be difficult getting the rope to just the right lenght. The short top terminal may be because of where the lift is landing i.e. no room for anything bigger

B.T.W if you look at construction photos and compare Snowbird's uni-gs to Belleayer's or DV's you can see the extra section added to the runway beam and the longer conveyor assembly

I hate the green tower heads on the new Stirling at DV... they have really taken it over the top.

Are they powder coated, or painted? How's the rust resistance?

/I think they look good compared to galvanized....

they're just painted...I don't see how it qualifies as "over the top"
Also, I haven't seen much rust around our towers/crossarms/catwalks
And I looked at the picture of that splice a little closer and it looks like Richard Ryer

Too bad the resolution wasn't better on that camera. you would have seen us out there tearing it apart. On Friday we dropped the rope off towers 2-5 and put plate clamps on the rope between towers 2 and 3 with the dead men going to tower 2. This rig allows you to let the carriage go forward and you still keep the slack in your rope at the bottom to get it off the wheel. Then yeah....yesterday we tore everything apart! First thing we fed some extra chain into the existing counterweight chain to get the counterweight on the ground...then we got all the chain outta the picture (easier said than done). Then we got the depress assemblies out. Then we rigged the bullwheel and dropped that to the ground....then rigged for the longitudinal beam (tube above bullwheel) and Ian from SMI cut that out. Then it was time for the horizontal (beam that holds depress assemblies) to come out....we dropped this on the ground and un did the U-bolts that hold the rollers in place so it would slide off the top of the two legs. All in all I think it was a pretty productive 2 days.
Ian from SMI is doing the demo of this lift and so far he's done a pretty stand up job! Really cool guy to work with as well

Would that be Ian Honey? tell him Norm said Hi?

So I guess Peruvian will be reinstalled at Bridger as either Slushman's or Bradley Meadows lifts. Both are expansions that have been approved at either end of the resort. Does anyone know which one it will be and when?

Seeing that sign confuses a lot of people. When we were up there last weekend, many people didn't understand why the lift line ran north when town is downhill to the east. Much hilarity ensued listening to people try and explain the angle stations.
