Let's paint it purple and green- Barney=Dinosaur, right? We could probably find parts at Baker, Seymour, or Cypress, all of whom have removed Murray-Lattas recently.

Good idea, I have a feeling the lift will look like the Mountain Dew triple I found a while back. :)

Yes, Mt Bohemia. Lizz and I saw those lifts in person this past summer, and they are uglier than the pictures!

I was told by one of the previous mechanics that used to work on that lift is the main reason the lift was abandoned is due to tower footings going bad on the backside. He stated to me the cost to get that lift going again would almost be as much as installing a new lift so was not cost effective.

The 'reverse' accident that ended in a lawsuit was during the Hyak Ski Corp days and contributed to them going into bankruptcy....later to be sold to Pac West in the early 80's by the bank for $480,000.

The original color was a light blue, then later was painted green and the last color looks to be kinda orange that has faded to pink.

This is the top station in 1971, later lowered about 7' to get rid of the wood ramps.

What year did it stop running? Liftmech seems to remember it running in 89-90 and I thought it stopped years earlier.

I basicly livein Seattle over the summers (Salt Lake whenever else) because all my relatives live up there (jobs dragged parents down to the best snow but you know) anyway i could help in anyway shape or form.

I was told the mid 80s but nobody seems to know for sure. I know the backside load/unload area has been collapsed as long as I can remember....seems it would be hard for it to have been functional in 89/90 and have it be in such horrible shape by 1991. I'll ask around more......there has got to be someone there who knows for sure.

I'm still trying to get more information on the snowmaking system that was used there in the 80's..... I've only heard from one person who told me it was like skiing on ice-balls. I know it was very short lived and many of the pipes are still in the ground but there is no way it could ever be resurrected and I doubt anyone would want to from what I hear.

It's entirely possible for the Hidden Valley ramp to collapse in a year, especially if it wasn't being maintained. Wood rots fast in the Northwest, as you all know.

That is true, plus once they stopped operation they would no longer shovel snow off and the weight alone would most likely have made it collapse. Especially after a full winter snow then spring rains to really add to the weight. Of course the Milwaukee Ski Bowl jump and buildings lasted I'm told 20+ years before they collapsed. They must have really been built well to hold up that long under the snow.

There is a group of people trying to raise funds to get the Thunderbird lodge back to shape. They had asked the Summit if they raised half if they would kick in the other half to finish the job (don't know what the reply to that was?). I was told it would be $30k to revamp the place.

I wonder where we would get funds for this type of things. It would sure take a lot of car washes to get the funds we need. However, we would have to start first by cutting down all the bushes and trees that are in the lift line.

I believe we could get money from either Snoquime Summit or mabey a historical society.

I don't think Booth Creek would give us any money. They already have turned the ski area upside down within the last few years do to lack of revenue and some other things. It's kind of starting to look pretty ghetto up there and if Booth doesn't have the funds to clean it up, they don't have the funds to support the rebirth of the lift. Or maybe Book Creek is just treating this area like crap and doesn't care. I don't really know.

But yea a histrical society would maybe. However, this lift would be removed in the near future.
