What other lifts are possible at Whistler? I know the interconnect 3S and the Crystal Express will probably happen. What about lifts on Peak to Creek? Are there any other possible expansion areas?

On Blackcomb, Crystal and the 3rd section of Excalibur gondola are about the only new lifts that can be added, although there was talk a few years ago about a fixed grip on the southside (7th heaven area). On Whistler there are long range plans for two more lifts in the Piccolo/Flute area and a few in the creekside/westside area. Pretty much all of our terrain is lift accessed already. More lifts will improve access.

Im doing a persuasive speech about the P2P. Aussierob, do you know how long it takes to ride Wiz and Solar Coaster?

Would the Third section of Excalibur replace the Excellerator Chair?

No, Excal is just for access. Excel is a mid mountain skiing lift.

Where would the 3rd section of Excal go then? Glacier Creek?

rendezvous

The original plan was to go to Glacier Creek, but now the Rendezvous would make sense given the P2P being on the way. There are some design issues as the 3rd leg is pretty long and may necessitate a bigger haul rope. Then you need to figure out a location for the top station.

In the Pique, i saw that they are going to upgrade the Village Gon this Summer. What are they doing?

The upgrade is going to start next summer ('07). Whistler will close early and Blackcomb will stay open. Its getting new terminal equipment. The year after they are doing a cabin upgrade/replacement. Its a 2 year job with about a 9 week shutdown each time.

Any ideas as to what the new cabins will be?

If they go new it will probably be a CWA 8 passenger. There is talk of refurbishing the old ones. (I really hope not though  )

Will the 2 person less cabins reduce Hourly Cap at all? Or will they just have a couple more cabins on the line?

Hopefully they add something with more of a seat, as much as leaning is nice, after half the ride you wish there was somewhere to sit on. I guess not too many people will be lapping on that lift, though the point still stands, it sucks to be tired from the ride up the mountain. Do they ever load those cabins with 10 passengers? it seems 8 is already a tight squeeze.

Hey Rob, was the Excellerator Chair originally indended to be a bubbled chair? I wondered this because the armrests have those white plastic inserts that all the bubbled chairs do.

If you look around, a few other Highspeed Doppelmayrs of the late 1980's and early 1990's have this feature, whether it was a design feature or happened to exist to make these chairs upgradeable in the future i do not know. An example is that both Doppelmayr chairs of the same vintage at Big White have the same White inserts. Perhaps these chairs were produced in conjunction with each other?
