This lift was going to be located on the backside in one of the bowls. The article never mentioned the gondola or the new beginner lift.

The article you saw was about the approval of our new master plan. It did not include K gondola or the upgrade of H to a quad because those have already been approved. Chair 5, the Tucker lift, has issues not from environmentalists but the fact that the bottom terminal is not currently accesible through Forest Service land. We will have to negotiate with the Climax Mine, which owns everything south of Copper Creek, in order to put in a service road. We cannot currently extend the existing road from Mountain Chief down Copper Creek because the valley is very narrow and there are wetlands everywhere down there.

I've posted this before, but there is no timeline for any of our improvements or upgrades. Sorry, but we don't know ourselves so I can't really say when any of this will happen.

Well nothings official yet, but the word is Deer Valley might be replacing sterling lift (YAN) with a new Doppel_Tech lift this summer. It will follow the same line but dump out a little lower than the existing sterling. Our Mountian Ops. Supervisor is in Europe looking at lifts right now so Im thinking it will happen.

That'll actually be good. The end will be before the steep part of the top of Bald Mtn, so beginners can ski Birdseye, etc. without having to go down the face and ski it off. I guess it'll be a detachable, because if it was gonna be a fixed grip, they could have just shortened it, but I could be wrong. I just hope it's not a fixed quad.

One thing I wonder about is the summer operation. Will they open Wastch, or maybe Quincy, or leave the old Sterling in long enough to be used for the summer and cut a parallel line? Also why would the supervisor be in Europe? Possibly checking out the Garaventa MCS terminal  ?

where is the tucker lift going to run? is it going to access stuff now currently accessible on the cat? or is it going to open up new terrain?

The only new terrain will be the stuff underneath the current traverse back to Blackjack. The new lift will start approximately 400 yards below the bottom of Blackjack, allowing you to ski all the way down Fremont 1 and 2 instead of bailing out on the traverse 2/3 of the way down. The lift will terminate approximately where the patrol hut is now.

Yeah Tyler it will be cool. I'm Positive that it will be a detach, and I'm guessing a quad too. As for mountian bike operations this summer I think we will run Wasatch. Sterling will Acess The exact terrain as it does now, but it will drop out a little earlier so that beginer skiers can take a right and head straight onto sunset, and more advanced skiers can go left to birdseye and the rest of bald mountian. The only disadvantage I can see from this is that it would be hard to acess Sultan and Mayflower from Sterling as it would require some major skating and some of it uphill, but you have to do a little bit of that now anyways. Our Mountian Ops supervisor is checkig out Doppelmyar stuff as they are the ones who took him!

Accessing Sultan and Mayflower isn't really a problem, if you want to go over there, you can just go down to Wasatch or Sultan. Hardly anybody rode the old Sterling, since you could take Wasatch, and now Sultan, in half the time, and you definetly wouldn't take it to get to Mayflower, since you would have to go uphill a little to get to Mayflower from where Sterling ends now

Well I guess its official now. Just got word that our Mountian Ops supervisor signed on the dotted line. Sterling Lift (a yan triple chair now) will be taken out and replaced. I don't know anymore details yet other than it will be a Doppelmyar - Ctec detach and probably a quad. I will post more info and pics when I get it. Pretty sure we'll be running Wasatch this summer for mountian bikes too.

We should be able to watch Sterling Express go up this summer on the DV webcam, which points right out on the bottom terminal of Sterling

Does anyone know weather Tamarack, ID or Moonlight Basin, MT are installing any new lifts this year? They both are new resorts and have been building new lifts every year.

When I was at Tamarack, one of the head guys said that he thought the Canoe Express was a go for this summer. I'm not sure that lift is that great of an idea but if the ski area boundary is expanded on that site, it should be good.

Yeah, unless the border expands, there is no use for the lift because the summit express is already there and it serves the same terrain, and it's not like Tamarack has that many people- they have capacity limits daily too, right?

yea, I think 1500 people limit.

A lot of works has to still be done in that area since tree stumps are still sticking up left and right on some of the runs.

I would think Overlook Express should be next since it would better connect Wildwood and the main mountain. Tamarack, even at full buildout seems small and flat. I think it will be interesting to see how soon they try to expand the current boundary.

I'm jealous- new lifts at Whistler, DV, Tamarack (and they're not even that old)- when do we get to build new lifts :censored2:  I shouldn't complain, it'll all happen in due time.
