Whats the deal with the Partek lift, I thought they went out of business.

The Partek lift was purchased in 2004 by Willard Mountain but it sat in storage for that season probably because Willard didn't have the time to install it. However, SAM forgot to list this lift in its lift installation survey since Partek didn't put out a 2005 installation sheet since it's now part of Doppelmayr CTEC. However, since this lift was purchased in 2004 and is a true Partek lift before the merger, Doppelmayr CTEC didn't list it on its lift installation survey either.

However, I'm not sure what's up with the Headwall lift at Moonlight Basin. From what I read, I thought Doppelmayr CTEC was going to build it but it's not listed in SAM or my Doppelmayr CTEC lift installation survey. Maybe the lift is used and Doppelmayr CTEC made some modifications to it? Hopefully I will know by tomorrow and if not, I will contact Doppelmayr CTEC about it.

The original lifts installed in 1962 were The Village Gondola then known as lift #1, replaced by double chair #16 in 1976, then replaced by the current HSQ "Vista Bahn" (still #16) in 1985; lift #4 which was #2 back then (a Riblet FGD; & lift #5 known as #3 back then. The lifts changed to their current numbers in 1964 when the lifts 1, 2, & 3 that we know today (#'s 2&3 have since been replaced by HSQ's but run roughly the same lines) were installed. Rather confusing, eh? Good thing they don't change lift numbers anymore.

This is way late but may be useful.

Paskapoo is Canada Olympic Park

I only show Diamond Head open in the late 60's

Mt. Arrowsmith is now just Arrowsmith -- it might be closed

I am close to filling in the info for the following lifts but need a little help:

For devils head, I don't remember which lift is the triple. With that info all the other lifts should fall into place. Every lift is accounted for in the survey. From memory I have filled in the quads above. Due to the age and number, the doubles are harder to sort out. I'm pretty sure lifts 1,2,3 and 4 were the original lifts but I doubt they're exactly the same as the lift survey indicates. I think I have the right lift matched with the right name for the rest, but if 00 is not a triple, this will need rework.

For boyne highlands, The 3 quads have to be amy's, challenger and leprechaun (relocated and now north face) Challenger has to be the shortest one, but the other two are hard to distinguish.

Seems the Peak Chair at Grouse was missed, anyone know if it was relocated or something?

It was probably missed by SAM since it gets all the new lift data from the lift manufacturers and since the company that installed the lift at Grouse was from Europe, SAM didn't even think about contacting them since they don't really install lifts in North America. I think they only built two in NA and both at Grouse.

The South Dakota ski area is Terry Peak (no "s") and the Riblet Quad was called Suprise, I believe. It's now a Doppelmayr HSQ as is the Kussy lift.

Looking at the 63 survey, I have to question the new resort of Boyne Highlands in 63-64. It is true that this was the first year the resort had this name, but the ski area had been called harbor highlands the year before. I tried to track down when harbor highlands opened and determined it was betwween 45 - 64 but couldn't nail it down. Anyone know?

The Assiniboine T-Bar at Sunshine village was a very short lift starting near the lower terminal of the current Continental Divide HSQ and ending near the lower terminal of the former Great Divide double. The lower terminal of Great Divide is still standing and appears to be used for storage. Both the Assinoine T-Bar and Great Divide double were replaced by the Continental Divide HSQ for the 96-97 season. The Great Divide double was moved to Castle Mountain Resort for 99-00 season and beame the Tamarack Chair.

I show several references to HARBOR HIGHLANDS in the late fifties. The earliest one I have is December 1957. Vertical of 350 ft. Lifts: Platter and 5 rope tows. New name 1963.

I think name of the second 1978 lift at Squaw Valley, CA may be Solitude (east of Shirley Lake). But the vertical seems too high so it could be Newport or Mainline. Their trail maps used to list the lengths and elevations.

You can get all the names of all the Yan lifts from the Yan installation history. According to that, mainline was installed in 1974. Yan installed "Super Squaw" and High Camp in 1978
