Is the new Silver star lift at PCMR the old first time lift with new doppel-tech towers, line gear, etc...?

Yes John...that's correct. Here's a link to Mad River's site with some install shots...I drove up there last year and saw all the old carriers too...but I dunno if they'll use them unless they can find like 85 more CTEC fixed triple chairs.

Beaver Mountain's main lift, "Harry's Dream" double is down for the season, and they are not fixing it.
"We are sorry to report that the Dream Lift has had a major bearing go out and will be down for the remainder of the season. The Triple is running with limited acess by traversing from the top of the Face Lift. This traverse is only recommended for advanced skiers in good physical condition."
I wonder if they just gave up on it since it is probably going to be replaced with a high speed quad this summer.

Possibly a bullwheel bearing since those are very difficult to repair/replace. Beaver Mountain- is that the one north of Logan on the way to Bear Lake?

From what I have been hearing, Mammoth is planning to replace both chair 5 and chair 9 with quads this summer. The original plan was to replace 9 with a HSS and turn 15 into a gondola. I guess the new owners decided to put that on the back burner for a while.

New lift for Sun Peaks, BC
New Quad Chairlift on Tod Mountain
A new quad chairlift on Tod Mountain will provide direct and faster return access to popular runs like Chute, Spillway, Green Door, Cariboo, Bluff and many others. The lift will provide another route to the top of Tod Mountain as well as the Nancy Greene International Race Centre, home to the Austrian Ski Team for early season race training through the 2010 Olympic Games.

Are they taking out the Crystal Chair to do that?

I actually found an old trail map of Sun Peaks and there was actually a lift in that same spot before the base area was relocated.

Whistler had this map made last year, I wonder if this means they are putting lifts and runs in in Flute Bowl?

Update on Crested Butte...
The Teocalli Bowl Lift will not be happening this year.
By 2006-2007 (NEXT season)....
The East River Lift, the double turned triple on the backside of the mountain, will be getting replaced with a high speed quad. I dont know who theyre in contract with (they are) to purchase the lift, but I would bet its Leitner Poma, as all the rest of the lifts for CB have come from them. There will be expanded snowmaking and tree cutting in this area too. It will turn a seven minute ride into a 3 minute ride.
By 2007-2008....
+ A new lodge at the top of Keystone/Red Lady Express called Red Lady Lodge.
+ Teocalli Bowl Lift will NOT be a t-bar as announced, but instead will be a triple chair using parts from the Gold Link and Painter Boy Chairs. These chairs are set to be "updated" as well, although I suspect it will just be new chairs and bullwheels and such; i doubt they will put in high speeds here as they are just too short. A HSQ on Painter Boy would be like a 30 second ride.
Down the road..
+ Some minor work will be done to Silver Queen Road to make Paradise accessible from Twister, and on the Canaan Terrain Park trail itself.
+ Work on the icy "luge" exit from Banana and Peel.
+ Regrading of several trails.
+ Re-alignment of Teocalli Lift so that it unloads at Red Lady Lodge.
+ Re-alignment of High Lift, and the move of Ski Patrol Headquarters from the bottom of that to the top of the Silver Queen.
+ Re-alignment and work to the Peachtree Lift area.
+ Snodgrass Lite maybe as early as 2009.
now, crested butte has had a great year. theres been lots of guests and the snow has been consistent and good. the numbers are looking good for a good profit, and that will help motivate the local buearacray to action, so you might end up seeing some of this earlier than planned, but this is a rough timetable.

NEWS RELEASE - Introducing, the NEW Alpine Meadows chairlift at Silver Star! With the announcement of the sell-out of building lots in the new Alpine Meadows subdivision, Silver Star Ski Resort Ltd. thrilled new investors and Silver Star guests by announcing a brand new chairlift to service runs in the Attridge area. This $1.5 million Doppelmayr ‘Unistar’ fixed-grip quad chair will have a capacity of 1,200 people per hour. With 743 metres (2,450 feet) in length and 229 metres (750 feet) of vertical, the Alpine Meadows chair will be a quick 5 minute ride to the top. It will be constructed during the summer of 2006 and ready for the opening of the 2006-2007 winter season.
Brad Baker, Silver Star's Operations Manager, reports that the new Alpine Meadows chairlift at Silver Star will offer improved access to all of the runs to the west (skier's right) of the Summit chair, and adds that "this was Silver Star’s black diamond terrain prior to Putnam Creek. It is well known by locals for great powder lines. It is south facing so it offers great spring skiing and panoramic views down the valley. The Alpine Meadows chair will make this terrain truly lift-serviced for the first time ever."

I believe Copper Mountain got approval for a new lift, but I'm not sure if that's going in or not. Sounds like the enviromentalists aren't too happy about it since they think it's Canadian Lynx territory.
