I was not able to get the actual improvements map to enlarge so I can see all the detail, I wass mainly going by the lift changes which were written in the plan which did not specifically say the Coney Glade chair is coming down.
A question though: With the shortened Burlingame lift, can you still ride it to reach Sam's Knob. Does it still unload high enough? It did not sound as if it did.

From what it looks like on the map and what I remember from skiing there it will not be possible to get to the knob from burlingame anymore.

With Burlingame not unloading high enough to reach the knob and with Alpine Springs only unloading high enough to reach Sheer Bliss and not Big Burn, the Coney Glade HSQ still has many uses. It also will make it possible for intermediate and advanced skiers and riders who park over at Two Creeks to traverse accross the mountain and access Big Burn and the Knob quickly without skiing down to the bottom of the HSS. It will be interesting how they will manage the traffic down there (at the bottom of Village Express) . It has historically been a zoo with skiers and riders of all abilities everywhere when one skis any lower than Burlingame. Since the removal of the Glade is not mentioned as definate in the master plan, hopefully they will reconsider. We'll have to wait and see. It will be interesting to see the effects of the changes. BTW, the lift to the left of the Elk Camp looks like it will open up some cool terrain. I think that area is mostly gladed now. A high speed replacement for the Funnel lift has also much needed and that Gondola will be nice. It is a hassle and-a-half unloading a toddler on a teather from a center-bar chair with an olympic downhill course for an unloading ramp. The indoor waterpark also sounds very unique and should draw many visitors. Even though it probably sounds as if I am "grumbling", I do recognize many positive parts of the upcoming projects.

hey guys, I got an email about the coney glade/big burn idea. it sounds like coney glade will be a backup and will not be removed.

That sounds like a good plan. Then they will still have the lift if they need it to clear the bottleneck at the bottom of Village Express. I kind of wish they would have the new Burn chair originate at the bottom of Sheer Bliss (and remove the Bliss) but there might not be enough room for a HSQ or HSS terminal there. The current Burn chair could then be used for back-up also. I like the idea of the Burn chair unloading higher up though. Maybe one will be able to access some of the Cirque trails without the long line for the poma-tow.

skied snowmass today, the six-pack is running at reduced speed per tramway board's orders untill an other tower can be added to the line. Seems that an e-stop at full speed causes chais to hit the roof of a snowmaking building (due to line bounce a normal condition expereanced on all lifts). I was told that the tower will be added this season befor x-mass. I would worn that this is not a major F___up mostlikly the servey used for design did not have the building marked or it was simply missed, also rope dynamics are a little tricky to predict and there for it may have been thought to have enough clearance. The pulse gondola is without a rope or com lines otherwise up. When completed the lift will be a bottom tension, top drive. The drive is a vult with a single mast holding the bullweel and break assemblies(installed) and a drive shaft (yet to be installed) coming out of the motor room and connecting directly to the bullweel. Fogot my camera today will post pictures at a later date.

Sort of a comical visual comes to mind thinking back to those skiing comic strips and posters I have seen, I'm sure anything but comical for the management and lift maintenance staff though. How long will the lift need to be shut down to install the extra tower anyway?? Since Wood Run was removed, does this leave skiers and riders any other lift to ride out of the village base area??

The lift is still running during the day - 11.5 minute ride as opposed to a 9.5 minute ride at full speed. All of the work is being done at night. Last night they dozed the snow off of the trail, brought in a pumper and 2 concrete trucks, poured the foundation, and dozed and groomed the snow back onto the trail. Lift opened at its normal time. Tower work will be done the same -"All under the cover of darkness!"

They say that they are going to replace the cabins on the silver queen next year but it remains to be seen if they actually do or not. Right now what I am wondering is what the new cabins would look like. I'm not sure if they will use ones like everyone else or if they will use ones hat are comprable to the ones that are currently on the lift.
BTW: Does anyone know if the new lift at snowmas has a full midstation or does it have a half one like at buttermilk? also is the sams nob restaraunt still therte or was it removed to make room for the new lift?
