Unfortunately no, I hadn't heard about skitownresorts.com before (newbie). However, I am very grateful for you mentioning that site, as it looks pretty interesting. Thanks!

2. Ski Area Brochures - http://teachski.com/brochures.htm

Not nearly as comprehensive as the skimaps.com site was, but very helpful nonetheless. Any other similar sites that people are aware of would be tremendous.

Thanks!

Derek

Thanks for the plug Derek! http://teachski.com is my site.

BTW- Intercarve has made an agreement with Skimaps.com owner (it is not Chris as some here think) an it is back on line. It's original owner is the University of Maryland. Chris did run it for a while, but is no longer doing so. I know with his new job at Crotched Mountain and is software developement he is quite busy. THey are looking for someone to take skimaps over. I believe that there is an address on SJ, in the thread I have linked below, of a contact person if you are interested.

Is that the same jigback tram that is there now? Sorry if this doesn't make sense but I've never been to Squaw.

Here are a couple of shots of the old JigBack built for the 1960 Olympics. It ran on approximately the same line as Headwall.Attached File  JigBack1.JPG (1.21MB)

Here is an old Okemo trail map from the late '70's. I think.
I took if off the maintenance garage wall around '92. Lots of push pin holes.

I have the original wooden 2 x 10 routed and painted trail sign from the Brave trail which is now Triple Sec.
( I still dont have the nerve to go up or down that original trail with a sno-mo, or a wheeler, wicked steep with a double fall line) I found it at an 80 year old lady's yard sale for a buck. She said, "I bet you dont know what that is". I said, "I bet I do". Too funny. Sold. It hangs in my livingroom now. Great history stuff.

I have a some old trail maps of eastern ski areas that I collect off of eBay as one of my many hobbies that I really don't have time for. It's fun looking at some of these maps and seeing what the place used to look like as opposed to what it looks like now. I also use the maps to help determine lift location and installation years when I'm working on pages for this site.
Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

I'm confused, so the new quad was being built and was on the map, but no runs were open in the Winter?

I wonder, is the Alpine T-bar the original T-bar? or are some of the towers reused? or is the Alpine T-bar close to or does it follow the line of the original T-bar on those maps?

Stop wondering:
The Main T was shortened in 1980, and ran from the top of the new Village chair(later called the Summit) to its original unload, with steel tube towers replacing the old wooden portals.
In 1987 the Alpine T was completely relocated, with the drive going down to the Easy out / Hwy33 junction and the return going about 100m higher. The rope height at the return is now 7500 ft asl

Almost forgot, we replaced all the assemblies in 2004
