What happened to the "new" runs? They are no longer on the trail map as runs.

According to WB's website, the new runs are open again as well as Flute Bowl. I wonder why they closed them for several years if they were open all the way back in '95-'96?
We have a slightly older map on the shop wall- it has the Quicksilver, Greenline and Redline lifts but not Harmony; the old Blue chair is still there.

Yes I believe they had the trails cut but didnt have them summer groomed then they left them. Note: Not all trails on there are on the new trail map and only peak to creek has been summer and winter groomed. The other trails have stumps and things on them.

I got a 1976 Mammoth trail map with profiles (length and vertical) of 50 or so runs.

I have found a 1980 xc trailmap for cypress mtn. My scanner made the white look wierd but it is still quite readable. This map is to scale, amazing! It might help in figuring out where the old ropetows ran.

Hello everyone!
Periodic "lurker", first time poster.
I came across this thread in the skilifts.org discussion and found it fascinating! I am an avid collector of old maps of all types...and I have actually been working to try and develop a historical "gallery" for collegiate campus mapping, similar to what I had seen at skimaps.com. A colleague of mine in Maine was asking me for a reference to the skimaps.com site today, and I noticed that the web site, live as of last week, now says that it has been "deactivated".
Does anyone have any ideas about what might have happened with Chris Bradford and/or the site? That was an AWESOME resource (IMHO) for viewing hundreds of examples of ski resort maps, past and present. I am also wondering if anyone knows of any other comprehensive sites for referencing ski resort maps on the web! I am curious as a map collector. I also have "selfish" interests as well, as my mapping firm is in the process of formalizing a licensing agreement with a company called "SeeBuddee", which has worked in the past to develop roughly 25-30 ski resort maps in Colorado and Montana....packaging the maps into waterproof 2" x 3" x 0.5" self-containing units, with viewing of the maps being accomplished via the use of 70mm IMAX film and a 5X magnifying lens.
Pretty interesting stuff! However, I've been relying upon sites such as skimaps.com to aid in my crash-course education on the "Hows" and "Whys" of ski resort map design...and to see that web site deactivated today was very disappointing, to say the least!
Any help or advice that anyone might be able to offer to me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you check out snowjournal.com (Chris B's own website) and do a search about SkiMaps.com, you should find some information on why the site was shut down in the past.

Thanks for the reply, SkiBachelor. This is all I could find on the snowjournal.com site:

Chris no longer operates skimaps.com. The license to operate it is now held by a company in North Carolina. This transfer of ownership took place in June 2005.
We hosted the site from June on without being compensated by the new owner. Normally such sites would be deactivated more quickly. This new owner has been unreachable for some time now. Hopefully he will take an interest in reviving the site soon.

Not sure I entirely get the joke, being a "newbie" and all!
I did really like the skimaps.com site though as a reference.....regardless of what a few people though of Chris or whatever other political/commercial under-currents were present with that site that I wasn't aware of (that a few people on other boards seemed to be eluding to)......
I did find a couple of other sites in the mean time that had at least a little bit of what I've been looking for:
1. Colorado Ski Maps - http://www.colorados.../trailmaps.html
2. Ski Area Brochures - http://teachski.com/brochures.htm
Not nearly as comprehensive as the skimaps.com site was, but very helpful nonetheless. Any other similar sites that people are aware of would be tremendous.
Thanks!
Derek

Perhaps I should rethink the skitrails.org site... again....
I own the name skitrails.org, which was planned on being a skimaps.com version to compliment skilifts.org. But due to the fact that our hands are tied with keeping skilifts.org updated, that plan was scrapped. But like I said, I haven't forgotten about it.
