Alright, the 1976 lift installation sheet is now up. It's not finished all the way yet and there are lift names that I can still add like the Paradise chair at Red and Red Tram at Grouse. But if you know the name of a lift, please post it, the same goes for if a resort changes its name.

Regarding the 1976 lift installations for Colorado, the lifts installed at Vail were: lifts 2, 16, & 17 as the doubles, the triple (and the only remaining lift out of all those) was chair 14. The 4 person gondola was actually removed that year to make way for double chair 16. Lift 16 formerly started in the Village and ran the same line as the current Vista Bahn, however it ended much lower and only carried skiers and riders high enough to catch lift #17 which ran next to lift #2 (currently Avanti Express).
The lift at Purgatory (currently Durango Mtn Resort) was lift #5 and it is still there.
Are you sure there were that many Yan double chairs installed at Copper that year? The only ones I can think of were H and C-1 (has Yan drive but all other components are Heron-Poma) B-1 and I were already there by '76 and we know that J was installed in '77 and A in '79 and all other Yans much later.
Regarding breckenridge, the '76 Riblet might be the old B-lift on peak 9.

Correction on '76 Colorado installs at Vail: The triple installed in '76 was NOT chair 14, it was the triple version of chair 4 (currently Mountaintop Express). In this case, the only remaining equipment from that lift are the tower tubes currently used on chair 3 (it was moved from the chair 4 line to replace the chair 3 line in '85 when Mountaintop Express was built). The chair 4 line had one of the original two chairlifts (Riblet FGD) built in 1962 when Vail opened. As for chair 14, if I am not mistaken, it was built in 1975 along with #15 (the beginner lift at Eagle's nest).
It is interesting that after a major lift accident in the spring of '76, Vail still had the $$ for 4 lift installs and 1 major removal. They must have had good insurance.

The riblet quad at nubs nob in the 78 survey is the green chair.
The riblet quad at Crystal mountain in the 77 survey is the buck chair.
Both are still used but the green lift has been retrofitted.

For Colorado, 1976, you list 5 installations at Copper: the first is H LIft - the other four were at Keystone: 2260 L I believe is Packsaddle II; 5585 L was Go Devil; 4630 L was Idabelle; and 685 L is Checkerboard.
Anyone else agree or disagree?

I presume that SAM messed up with the resort names then, although I don't see any correction in the Spring issue of 1977. Although, there was no mention of any lifts being installed at Keystone during 1975.

Thanks for help everyone.

The lift installed at Stevens Pass in '76 is Seventh Heaven. Baker's lift from that same year is Sticky Wicket.

Packsaddle II is a bit older than Checkerboard, Ida Belle, & Go Devil. There is an old map of Keystone from 1975 on Coloradoskihistory.com which shows Packsaddle II (then simply called "Packsaddle" as a longer lift with the same upper terminal but the lower terminal located further down just before the steep part of Go Devil run. The lift was likely shortened when Go Devil lift was installed. Maybe Packsaddle was installed in 1974? Did any other Colorado resort install a 2260 ft Yan double chair in '76?

SUNSHINE - Fireweed T-Bar
FAIRMONT - Sundance Chair

1982 Installs:
Area identified as UPPER CARIBOU should be MARMOT. The chair is more commonly known as just the TRIPLE (it's identified as PARADISE on some maps). It replaced what was originally the upper part of the Caribou Chair (a looonnng ride back then!)

1984 Installs:
Montana Snowbowl - LAVETTE CREEK

Here's even some more:

The J-bar at Suicide Six in 1977 is called "The J-Bar"
The Borvig triple at Pat's Peak in 1977 is the "Hurricane Triple"
The Riblet triple at Wildcat in 1982 is the "Bobcat Triple"
The Borvig triple at Waterville Valley in 1977 was the "Village Triple"
The double chair at Snow Valley, VT in 1976 was called "The Double"

The double chair built at Stowe, VT in 1979 was not the Big Spruce Double (that was built in 1958), I think it was the Little Spruce Double, but I'm not sure.
Chairlift n. A transportation system found at most ski areas in which a series of chairs suspended from a cable rapidly conveys anywhere from one to eight skiers from the front of one line to the back of another.

I worked for YAN in 76 doing the installs at Keystone. I do not remember removing any old "Packsaddle", but I do know that we installed the current "Packsaddle II". Its a 76 YAN double that was combined with Go Devil to reach that elevation.

The 1975 Lift installation sheet is now up.

P.S. Does anyone have any idea what Mt. Hays is? I don't think it's Whistler since that Mueller gondola had a length of about 6700 ft.

I was looking at the Stevens Pass 1976 lift survey and its indicated that Seventh Heaven was installed in 1976. The history on the their website put it earlier than that, so I think its a different lift. The history page is now gone off the stevens pass site, so I may have to email them.

The heyday of the rope tows ended in the late 1950's. The chair had proven far superior. In 1952, the T-Bar was replaced by the first rubber tired, double chair in the Northwest. The Blue Jay chair was built in 1956 followed by Seventh Heaven chairlift in 1960. Extending nearly to the top of Cowboy Mountain, Seventh Heaven changed the character of the area by opening up some of the most advanced skiing terrain on the mountain. That year saw a change in ownership as well. Don Adams, an original partner, sold his interest to Kehr and Caley.

Seventh Heaven was built in 1960, so its a different Riblet Double.

I found this on google about mt hays: http://hackingthemainframe.com/forum/viewt...30a5c79283613a0

Something i found on geocities:
c. PRINCE RUPERT, BC - Check this place out on a map. It is 400 miles past nowhere! Several guidebooks mention the scenic summer GONDOLA ride up MT HAYS. They also say: "also great skiing in the winter" but never mention the name of the ski area. Some ski references (circa 1978 to 1983) mention the "RAINBOW LAKES SKI CLUB" ski area with an ACCESS GONDOLA. Prince Rupert is known as the "Rainbow City" - for an unfortunate reason. To make a rainbow takes RAIN - there are rainbows every day of the year!
