That's not a chair, it's the maintenance carrier or work deck, it probably lives there for the winter season.

What do those carriers do?
Sorry, didn't look at the whole pic.

They allow skilift maintnece personale to inspect and work on sheave assemblies and perfore maintnece in a possition on the line rather than on the tower. They are better suited for smaller jobs such as seasonal inspections. Here's a photo of a work crew on the Panorama Gondola at Mammoth in their work carrier.

Haha, I like the work keg.
I think the drive must have been partly custom made with new parts because I never saw a second bulwheel for the drive up at Gold Coast. They just had one very large bulwheel with the drive above in the building. That lift seems like a good addition for Lake Louise. I noticed it is just about the exact same length its original carnation.

That's interesting. They could never get me to do that. I'm mildly afraid of heights. So they are just used to work on the sheave trains and all that in the summer when it's more efficient than the ladder?

think about this. do you want to be up on the tower sitting on the sheave train or the tower head bending over to do work or would u prefer to stand on your own 2 feet and work that way.

I looked over this topic and saw how many ppl want to see pics of the old gon. Heres some pics of it since my website still isnt working. Just so you guys know, the gondola didnt look like they were gonna destroy it so maybe theyve abandonned the idea to get rid of it.

Dave, you should make a trip to Alberta and snag one of those old gondola cabins while you have a chance for your museum.
WBSKI, did you get any pictures of the new gondola too?

I hopefully will get them uploaded within the next few days but I have pics of most of LL's lifts including a full tour of pics of the old gondola machinery.

I went into the bottom building of the old gondola, and there is a lot of old novelty items in there.

Dave, you should contact RCR since that's who I talked to a while back about trying to get one of those Yan type 7 retrofitted grips by polx west.

I can't remember his last name but Rick in the mountain operations office was the one I talked to about getting a tour of the old gondola.

Cool, i think i might try on that too. Cause that would be cool to get one and fix it up a bit... Ive emailed LL about the Yan HSQ chairs but no response so its probably not worth your time to try them but maybe RCR.
