A Yan Gondola Cabin

SkiBachelor's Photo SkiBachelor 20 Jul 2004

Here are a few pictures I took of the Yan Gondola at the base of the River Run Gondola. I wish I could have got a few better shots, but A) The gondola was right next to a pond B) This gondola was on private property and there was a sign so I didn't want to get in trouble.

So somebody bought this one and put it in their yard? Awesome. Looks a little bit like the old ones at PCMR (which were Halls, I think)

Looks interesting, not very durable. The actual design doesn't look all that bad compaged to some other stuff out there. I wonder if squaw's were purple :P

What isn't purple at Squaw?
Or is that the point?

Well the dont have anything that is fully purple. Most things are white with purple type, but i mean a fully purple cabin. It was the 80s, so anything went back then.

That's awsome that you found one. I have been trying to figure out what those things looked like for like 10 years!

There is another Yan cabin sitting at the side of the road between Leadville and Buena Vista (about 20 minutes south of my house). I was first told it was one of the old Lionshead cabns, but it didn't look like a Bell. Then I heard it was from Crested Butte. Now I see that it's a Yan; it's identical to the one pictured here.

I'm fairly sure that the cabin on the upper deck of Fatty's Pizza in Breck was one of the old Keystone cabins. It disappeared when they remodeled the restaurant but I will try to find out what happened to it when I'm up there next weekend.

I think you're right; I haven't been there for several years but I thought it looked like the one here.

I acquired one of these while at L/E.  Buried it in the back yard as an underground fort for my kids - a 30" long section of tower tube lead down to the rooftop escape hatch.  It's probably still there:  1345 Saratoga Lane  Minden.NV

In the back yard of 1345 Saratoga Lane, Minden, NV - there is one buried beneath the ground.
It made a great kids' fort.

EMax, you're repeating yourself, but it's OK because it's just a sign of old age!

Yeah - my memory is the second-shortest thing on me.

Howdy:

The Colorado Ski Museum Resource Center in Golden, CO has a YAN cabin from the Keystone gondola. It is painted green and is pretty ugly. Been outdoors too long, I guess. TCS

The Yan cabin is pictured on Keystone brochures from the era. TCS

I found a Yan cabin with a Squaw Valley logo badge on the side sitting in a field here in the north San Joaquin valley. It's black and is now a bus stop.
