I wonder why Poma doesn't use the spring system or some bubbles, like Dopp does. I know that the bubbles can get dirty, but why not springs?

We don't have the springs on our Doppelmayr. Raising the bar is assisted instead by a counterweight welded as part of the footrest, exactly like Poma. Spring canisters=more parts=more maintenance...

I didn't know that the Timberline Ex. had some assist system. BTW, I checked on Pomagalski, which is at www.poma.net and found out that the Pomas in Europe have available bubbles. But does anyone know if Poma or L-P has anything to help lift the bar?

There is weight added to the back of the bar to ofset the weight of the bar. If you look at the bar next time youre on a poma, at least the ones built before the merger with poma, im not sure if the Omega carriers use the same design, look at the back of the bar. The ones I have seen have a bar with a larger diameter and more weight on the back.

There are quite a few pomas in europe with bubbles, im not sure if there are any in the US or not. Despite there sometimes being a closed bubble when you would move up to load F it was definately a unique chair.

Ok, I haven't noticed stuff like that, but I'll check. Do you mean that once you get to a certain point they just keep going up? If so, then I've seen that, the only thing is I've found that point to be pretty high up. Don't they also have the gondola style pulley items in the station that lifts the bar up automatically? I think I saw a design like that on www.doppelmayr.com in the photo gallery.

The only auto opening device like that I have seen was on a bubbled lift. I have not seen pics of any on just footrests. The Vista Bahn used to have these. They do just continue to go up once you reach a certin point, the extra weight is there just to ofset the weight of the front so it can be easily raised and lowered.

Those were the only pics I found of the gondi device, when it had the bubble. I wish they would use those more often.

Why do you think it would be nessecary?

That is true, but if the lift does downloading...

Well it will cause more problems if theres automatic opening and closing since many people wouldnt understand it. The lifts that have bubbles that I have seen automaticaly close but if there are people on the chair it doesnt automaticaly close because a bar comming down when passengers arent ready would cause a big problem.

Yea especially since most people not too familiar with lifts tend to crowd over their own section of the seat when they first load. If you arent in the right place when the bar comes down the dividers could cause pain or injury.

That is probably one of the big reasons why they have ceased doing a lot of that.

I've never seen one that closes when theres someone in the chair that would be dangerous. To my knowledge there have never been any that close the bubbles or lower bars on the loaded side.
