It's especially bad if not everyone plans in advance and the people on the left want to get off to the right or vice versa.

Anyway, here's a pic of a Poma 8 pack chair

That was the chair I saw. It looks a lot like Dopp eight-packs, it just has a different grip. www.doppelmayr.com

that is pretty insane. I can't see a lift getting any bigger than that. Why do they build them in Europe and not in the US? What makes them work in Europe?

A much more vast mountain and many many more acres per lift that there are in the US

The grips on those chairs are massive! Though are they similar size to gondi grips?

Anyone notice that a couple of the boarders took off their board to ride? That would be me, becuase there is no way I could figure out how to get off without bowling over everyone else in the process. :)

You'd be living the high life if you landed one of those chairs by yourself! I thought riding single on a quad was luxurious but with that much room it'd be one heck of an experience.

Actually, those are the same size as any Poma Omega T grip, which are on newer high speed quad, six-packs, and eight-packs. They are also found on eight person gondolas and below. 10 person Poma gondola and up require the double grip.

The carrier itself is really robust. I know it would be more important on the larger carriers but the swing dampener would be nice to have on some of the six packs and quads I have been on.

There's only one lift in North America that has the integrated dampers and it's the six-pack at Mammoth. However, this lift was shipped over from Europe.

So it has the Poma Europe carrier design?

Oops, nevermind I guess it doesn't have the spring after I looked at the picture. It just has a strong hanger and damper, but there appears to be no spring.

This lift is a Doppelmayr.

Oh ok is there really a need for these dampeners or is it just the lifts that I have ridden, like the falcon that is high above the trees at the top?

There would probably be only swing dampeners on eight-packs and lifts known to be very susceptible to swinging.

then the falcon should definately have them! :---:

I dont know how it is with the new Omega carriers but the Alpha carriers swung all the time.

I believe that most of the new carriers do a pretty good job at keeping the chair from swinging but I haven't ridden the Falcon.
