Have a look at this chair. It's not a Yan, Doppelmayr and I think it's not a Poma

Could be a late-model Borvig, although I don't think so. The chairs look like the main lift at Ski Bluewood in S.E. Washington- does anyone know what kind of lift that is?

Hello everyone!

Well my friends, this IS a vintage SAMSON lift. Probably one of the last built before going out of business in the mid 90's.

SAMSON was a lift manufacturer from Levis Quebec. It started out in the 60's building T-Bars and chairs. You can still find some older double chairs running around. Funny enough, the chairs looked alot like the older POMA double chairs.

The double chair on Alfred Desrochers in Orford is one example.

Anyways, this is my first post. I will be reading y'all!

Jayman!

Interesting. So, Murray-Latta wasn't the only Canadian lift company, then.

I read that the chair at Alfred-Desrochers was a Carlevaro-Savio. I don't really know.

I didn't knew that Samson was in Québec ! I'm proud to know that there was a ski lift company here ! :specool:

Hey!

There are numerous SAMSON lifts that have been removed in the last 5-10 years. Here are some other ski areas... I never found a website for this company on the web.

Still alive...

BROMONT 1 double chair (2 double removed)
ORFORD 1 double chair (modified)
MONT CASCADE 1 double chair 2 T-Bar

Removed

CHANTECLER used to have 2 double chairs side by side
STE-ANNE The summit T-bar and the bottom to top double chair now replaced with the new Gondola.

There is probably a lot more out there in smaller areas.

If you go the Musée des Civilations in Quebec City you can actually view the original blue prints of the a SAMSON T-Bar!

The towers have a very funny look. They start large and go up in a conic shape to about the 10ft. The rest of the tower is a normal tube...

Funny enough, most of the designs in the original double looks alot like the POMA. The chairs and the base structures.

I worked at the Chantecler double chairs for a winter. These were installed in the 60's and were rusted like hell. We had to use the backup motor on a few occasions during my winter there. It was time they took these babies down. To bad they had somekind of charm!

If I get pictures of the old stuff I will post.

Jayman...
