I guess it was the trees and the 5 feet off powder. No one is down there. The lift wasn't running that slow. No lift lines. There are some steeper stuff. And c'mon the galaxy glades. You can't go wrong there. Lets go man. Galaxy Glades are amazing when there is powder!

I dunno. Everyone says Sierra and Heavenly have great trees but dodge kicks their ass any day if you know your way through. How was mott with the good snow?

Ah, I have never been in the galaxy glades. I should try it when I next have the chance.

One of my favorite old lifts was the Riblet double at the Broadmoor

I put up a few old lifts I like a while back, but here's an updated list.
Iceberg Ridge (C-2) at Crystal- '62 Riblet double and my current avatar- gone
Sunrise at Bachelor- '79 Yan triple- gone
Blue chair at Whistler- '66 Murray-Latta double- gone (not that I don't like its replacement, the Harmony, but the Blue was cool)
All four Halls at Monarch
Chair 1 at Baker- '52 Riblet double

New lifts I hate (or don't like very much)
Super B at Copper- they should have built two end-to-end quads in the same lines as old B and B-1, but who am I to second-guess?
Forest Queen at Crystal- a quad would have worked much better

I agree with your assessment of the Super B. I much prefer skiing the old B chair lines and have not cared too much for chair b-1s lines.

I was looking at that stats of the Forest Queen Express and dang, 3,600 people per hour, that's crazy. I have only been on that lift once, but road the Hall up to the top, so I didn't really know what the slope conjestion was like.

I think with Forest Queen, it was attached to a new state-of-the-art lodge and they needed the capacity to handle people going up to that lodge.

I fully concur with the Zephyr at Winter Park- For a main access lift, the thing stops and slows more than the average beginner chair, I will miss the Summit Express chair though (Poma 1985) and love all of Mary Jane's Heron doubles, especially Iron Horse and Challenger (both 1975 Heron)

New Collins lift at Alta. It's not just that I'm sentimental to the old lifts it is also that it is a pain to ski the upper mountain now as they only allow you to load on a free chair which never comes so it forces you to ski all the way down which increases the already long lines at the bottom. Also the midstation sits right in the middle of the ski run. I'll get some pics the next time I'm up there. Wildcat muct be the lift for me I guess...

I really don't like galaxy. The ride is really long with the uncomfortable SLI chairs.

How do they deal with that, not loading every few chairs at the bottom or something? Also, are there load gates? Maybe they'll come up with a better system over the summer

one of the old lifts that I love is the mott canyon lift, and one of the newer ones I hate is comet express (both are at heavenly) Despite being a high speed quad, I took the time once to count how many times the lift is slowed down, and I figured that just about every 15-20 seconds, the lift is either slowed or stopped to compensate to people who have problems getting on the lift.
