Brrrr...

We're taking bets in the shop as to whether the Northwest's loss will be the Rockies' gain. People who really need to ski may take a vacation down here instead of waiting on Mother Nature to deliver up there. It's even been on the local news. They have a hard time pronouncing 'Wenatchee' but at least they try.

Looks like we're getting a taste of what's happening in the northwest though not nearly as bad. It hit 3C (38F) here today and the snow is melting pretty good off the roofs of houses. I dunno what you guys might think but at least here in edmonton this is t-shirt wether if you're outside playing shinny or something.

Supposedly after huge snowfalls in banff of more than half a meter canmore is still pretty baren and with warm temps all week averaging above freezing the x-c tracks are looking really crappy.

oh it's not so bad... except for this year.

its looking like us northwesterners may not be getting winter this year.
At the summit at snoqualmie, we've had about 3 weeks of skiing so far, and that's it. lately we've gone through a beautiful warm front and its brought that fantastic warm rain. wow, us skiers love it up here! *sarcastic* :temper: the last day i went skiing there was 6-9 inches of powder with a centimeter of crust on top of it. blahhhh!!!

fortunately, since the sedason is so crappy, all passholders get (basically) free season passes to northstar at tahoe and sierra at tahoe. that's not SO bad, I guess. now what would really top it off is if its also effective at whistler

Played some hockey today outside. It was a glorious typical sunny day and it topped out at about 2C. It was weird because i don't recall the last time i wore a t-shirt outside in january and didn't freeze in seconds.

Some pretty good ruts are developing in the roads too. Enough to really screw up the suspenison if you go too fast on them.

dang thats bad. Im glad we arent having anything like that right now. I know the 80s in california were pretty bad, but we have been lucky lately. Im guessing this is an El Nino year because it can have good effects on certain areas (califonria, utah isnt doing too bad) and really bad effects on other areas, so some of western bc, washington and oregon. Hopefully itll get cold.

Holy crap, I didn't think it would be that bad up in Canada as it is in Washington. How is Red doing Allan? It seems that the mountains on the east side of the Cascade range are doing fine, but if your on the west side, it's ugly!

We're OK - a little lacking in some places, but we're hanging on :)

Well Crystal Mountain, WA just closed down. :(

Mt. Bachelor got an inch of new snow last night though so hopefully the other ski resorts will open up soon.

This weather is starting to remind me of 1988 when I was in Calgary for the Olympics. Daytime temps were in the mid 50s to low 60sF, which most people in Canada know is almost golf shirt and shorts weather for February. In fact I see to recall that a couple of courses were actually open.
