How Far Is It To Your Nearest Ski Resort (...

djspookman's Photo djspookman 17 Dec 2004

4-5 minutes to Smuggs (traffice dependant) since I live right in town. 30-40 minutes to Stowe depending if I drive around the mountains, or skin thru the Notch (closed road in the winter)

I love living in a small ski town:)

3 minutes to the nearest area (a little small, one gondi two double chairs and two t-bar's).  All the biggest austrian resorts between 1-3 hours.

So where in Austria do you live,
what's the name of the nearby "small" area?

When I'm in Sunapee, it's 10 minutes to Mt Sunapee, and 5 minutes to Lake Sunapee. When I'm up in Lyndonville going to school, it's 10 minutes to Burke, 1 hour to Jay Peak, Cannon, and Bretton Woods. Depending on where you are coming from Lyndonville or Sunapee, it's usually around 1-2 hours to get to most any ski area in NH or VT. ME, MA and NY ski areas are at least 2 hours usually more like 3 to 3.5.

From our summer house in New Hampshire, it's like 15-20min to Sunapee (We only hike there).

To ski it's 30min to the airport and a 4-5hr flight to Utah. Then it depends on where we go.

I've made it up to tahoe from Berkeley in 2.5 hours, but thats my best time. Usually, it takes anywhere from 3-4.5 hours, depending on traffic getting out of the bay area, to get up hwy 50 into south shore.

Mapquest shows 1 hour 23 minutes from Maple Valley. 45-60 minutes is a stretch.

You don't really have much of a choice on 410, that endless train holds everyone up. So few passing zones and so many cars.

Mapquest is also frequently way off in their drive time estimates. Driving up to Alaska this summer I drove the speed limit the whole way and get to Bellingham, WA with 6 hours less driving time than mapquest listed.
