For all you baseball fans here, what are your predictions for this season, what team(s) are you going for, etc?


My (probably very far off) playoff predictions:

NL:
East- Phillies
Central- Cubs
West- Giants/Dodgers? can't decide yet
Wild Card- Marlins!

AL
East- Red Sox
Central- White Sox
West- A's
Wild Card- Yankees

I dont really know much about the teams yet, but i will make some random choices anyways:

NL
East- Braves
Central- Astros
West- Giants
Wild Card- Padres

AL
East- Yankees
Central- Royals
West- A's
Wild Card- Red Sox

I'm going to pull for the Mariners in the AL West- they've got the talent, and they come so close every year it's got to be their turn, eh?

Nope, the A's have a great team yet again, and based on how they've played so far, they look pretty strong. There is always a chance, but im an A's fan so im going to rule them out.

The A's i think have the best fans in all of baseball. They are all true fans that go to enjoy the game, not like a business man that goes to the giants game to just say they went. The experience is by far the best at an A's game over any other. Mariners games are fun, but not as good as an a's

The Mariners have yet to win a game...
still, they've been really good in the past, maybe it's just a bad start.

We went to the Marlins-Phillies game last night. (FLA 5, PHI 3). They presented the championship rings before the game :D. 2 home runs for Hee Seop Choi :D. Marlins were down 3-0 in about the 4th inning. Marlins are now 4-1, Phillies are 1-4.

Trade deadline. Look at post 7 where I mentioned that Hee Seop Choi had 2 home runs for the Marlins against the Phillies. He had another game-winning home rum two nights ago as part of a 4 game sweep of the Phillies for the Marlins. Seems like a good reason to trade him Brad Penny, who won two games in the 2003 World Series, went with him to LA for Paul Lo Duca (the best part of the deal), Guillermo Mota (we need relievers desperately) and Juan Encarnacion (nice to have him back, he was on the 2003 championship team). Still, I have a feeling Hee Seop Choi is going to be really good someday and we're going to be sorry we let him go.

Anybody else's teams making noteworthy trades before the Saturday 4pm deadline?

Well it doesnt liik like the a's are doing anything big right now. Billy probably doesn't need too much, maybe a decent starter, but if Zito can get it together and Hudson gets healthy, they are gonna be hard to stop. I just wish they would let Byrnes play more, but Chavez is back, Kotsay is hot, and the rest is doing pretty well.

Mark Kotsay, there's one guy the Marlins wish they hadn't given up.
The biggest disappointment of the season for the Marlins has been Josh Beckett. He got so famous after pitching the only really great game he's ever pitched, but in reality, he's not all that great. Now we've traded away our #2 starter and we didn't get anyone to replace him. We'll have to see if Paul Lo Duca is anywhere near as good as Pudge Rodriguez from 2003. Not that it matters, because the Braves are starting to run away with the NL East again

This has to be the dumbest move for the Red Sox since selling Babe Ruth. SS Nomar Garciaparra to the Cubs, and they get out of it Orlando Cabrera from the Expos.

Looks like Cabrera worked out, at least from what I saw of him in the last two weeks. Congrats to the Red Sox for their first title in 86 years! I don't think the Cards came to play, since they got swept...unless the Sox wanted it so bad they played up yet another level.

Once they beat the yankees it was done. They probably thought if they could do that they could do anything, and in this case they did. Congrats to the entire team and mainly the fans. What a rough 86 years, but they won it in style with the sweep.

The Cardinals certainy helped them out though, they played like crap. But how did the Yankees choke like that with a 3-0 lead? Red Sox were the first team in postseason history to win 8 in a row

Like i said before David Ortiz.....

I think Johnny Damon helped out as well... coming into game 7 of the ALCS the announcer mentioned that he was 'in a slump' and he responds by hitting a solo homer and a grand slam that game; then continues to hit well all through the World Series.
