I guess they got their stuff together. They are opening chair 1 and chair 11 (Broadway and Discovery) on Thursday, and more on the weekend. They still haven't seen the upper mountain, so they don't know what they can open up there.

It definitely looks like they've got the snow. I just wish I could be there this weekend (Family happens to be coming down from Portland)

Ok:
-Boreal opens tommarow (Thursday) with Gunnars probably to the top by Saturday. ($22 tickets)
-Kirkwood opens saturday with chairs 5 and 11, running weekends until their opening the 20th of november. ($20 adults, $15 teen and $10 kids)
-Sugar Bowl has a bunch of snow with a 3-4 foot base, may open this weekend.
-Sierra has 4 feet but won't open until next weekend due to some fires on highway 50
-Mt Rose has about 3 feet of snow but no word on opening yet.
-Alpine has a bunch, around 2-3 feet but no news
-Squaw wont open untill the 20th of november unless something big happens.
-Mammoth will probably open with chairs 1 and 11 tommarow with possibly 2 and 6, maybe 3 for the weekend. (early season rates so $50 for adults and less for everyone else)
This has to be one of the best early season EVER for the california resorts. Mammoth has opened earlier 2 times, but they have a lot of snow. I cant wait for saturday.

Were they trying to beat Mammoth so that they could say it in their ads (Opened earlier than Mammoth!) or was that a coincidence?
What has this world come to, the Boston Red Sox won the AL Pennant and there are mountains opening in mid October

I hate this part of the year. On one hand, bring on the snow- I need to go skiing! On the other hand- I'm not done with summer maintenance yet and I need the road to stay open! Gaaaaaaaa!
Mammoth looks great, BTW.

But what you dont see is a bunch of big rocks just under the snow. I hit a big rock up there in Febuary once. With 15 feet onto of the mountain!
