What did you do this week at your resort?

Aussierob's Photo Aussierob 24 Sep 2016

All up in the air. It depends how much rock work you want to do at the top, and how you want to position the return terminal. The alignment must change, perhaps leaving the top where it is and moving the bottom to the skiers left. Lots of head scratching going on.

Yeah definitely a puzzle especially since the glacier is receding, i heard horstman would be replaced with a fixed grip quad, is that still the plan?

As I said earlier, its up in the air. A lot depends on the alignment

I take it that the area served by Horstman is quite ideal?

This week-- gave some love and attention to our last original lift. Full teardown of towbars, much head-scratching on bullwheel alignment, two tower assembly rebuilds, and a fresh coat of paint on the bottom shack. C-lift should be good to go for a few more rounds.

We're making a push to finish moving clips on our big lift. And praying it doesn't snow before we can get our winch cat anchors drilled.

Winch cat? For those of us less educated and experienced, can you tell us more about this process?

Thanks, and hope things go well for you!

This is our first winch cat too, which is part of the problem. Ex-Park City BR275. Had to get core samples drilled this summer, geotech engineering took forever to come back, then the construction guys didn't like the engineer's ideas, so we had to go back and get it redesigned again. Looks like we'll end up with tripods about 8 feet deep in the crappy rock we have at the top of the hill, tied together with a plate on top for the cat to tie off to. The snow line is coming down the mountains, and we don't have a good road to the top, so may have access issues for the drilling equipment. Fingers crossed that things go smoothly once we get the design finalized. Otherwise we'll have $40k worth of groomer sitting at the bottom of our mountain and a whole bunch of disappointed (and pissed off) racers.
The photo is us unloading the new cat. For reference, we're trying to install three anchors on the ridge visible at the top of the photo - one to the left of the light tower, one to the right, and another to the right of the chairlift. Should allow us to groom out most of the frontside of the mountain when we don't have good snow.

Hopefully, if either of you guys have to pull/retire those gems, you'll store or offer them to someone else so they can live on.

A couple of true historical pieces, there.
