No, and not for the foreseeable future. Amazing how one misquoted newspaper article got everyone all worked up :) We're looking more at replacing K-lift and upgrading Eagle, but no timeline there either.

Since you work at Copper I have a question. When do you think that American Flyer will be replaced? I am saying this because isn't it a really old Poma and since you said you work on it do you think it is at the end of its time?

As long as I can get parts I can keep it running. It's overengineered to begin with, which helps longevity. I've been told it's near the bottom of the replacement list.

Thank you for that info. It is nice to see someone how works on such an awesome vintage lift.

Maybe if there is ever a resort that is removing a lift with the same grip type you can snag them. Maybe this could help since the grip might have less use?

Grip components for Flyer are still available from Leitner Poma last time I checked. I doubt LPOA will discontinue TB series grip support anytime soon as there is quite a large market for the product. I do wonder if they would try to make a replacement grip like Ansaku did for the TA series grip lifts built in Japan http://ansaku.jp/publics/index/47/

How many of the old YANs do you have left on the I70 side of the mountain?

I rebuild the grips with all-new parts. I've gotten other parts from the old Colorado at Breck that would be tough to get new or were custom builds (like driveshafts and obsolete sheaves).

Jackson Hole has announced Sweetwater and Eagles Rest Chairs will be removed and replaced by a Doppelmayr 8 passenger gondola originating near the bottom of current eagles rest with a midstation near the top of current Eagles Rest and the top station near the top of current Sweetwater. I wonder if the Sweetwater will be recycled for the 4th time (1983-1990, Zephyr at Winter Park; 1990-1999, Eskimo at Winter Park; 2005-2016, Sweetwater at Jackson Hole). It started out as a Yan triple and had the plastic chiropractic chairs and received new chairs and sheaves from Poma and various other parts from Doppelmayr-CTEC. Sounds like a true Frankenlift.

They have already removed the lifts.

The original plan was to reinstall the old Sweetwater as the new Eagle's rest on an altered alignment. According to Liftblog, that doesn't seem to have changed.

Has a dopplemayr gearbox, poma chairs, yan towers and stations, and poma sheaves. As legendary as Bell Mountain, Spirit express and Snowdon quad!

Peter I was reading your blog (excellent job, by the way) and I wound up looking at the new lifts for 2016 in Colorado. It is surprising that Vail is getting an LP (but not too surprising, since chair 5 was also an LP detach and it was their last hsq) but even more surprising that Steamboat is going Doppelmayr for their quad. This is purely speculation but it makes me wonder if #17 at Vail will not have a carpet, straying from the recent trend at Vail Resorts. Could also be that Vail wanted to reuse the tower tubes on Chairs 2 and 4 but they can't reuse them on 17 so they went with LP.

Or Poma made them a better offer. Sometimes that's all it is.

I think that's the case with both. It makes me wonder if the Dopplemayr Six-pack is cheaper than LP and vice versa for HSQ. Might just be Vail preference (Don't like LP Six-packs for some reason?)
Steamboat was a total upside down decision. I don't think Intrawest has gotten a Dopp in this century (Probably this decade, I'm probably missing something).
