Christmas Mtn, WI lift is listed as a Doppelmayr Eco-Drive quad.

Can you cite your source? Mont Cascades' new quad will also be an Eco-Drive.

The re-use of J Gore's chairs is news to me, but certainly a possibility.

Although, now that i'm thinking about it.. HSDQ to FGQ? Can one just swap grips? I'm also trying to grasp where else the chairs would go...

In theory, all that would need to be done is to replace the grips. I can't confirm this, but I think I heard once at Targhee, that one of Sacajewea's HSQ carriers was transferred to the Shoshone FGQ.

I'm guessing that the grips would be reused on the new bubble chairs. The hanger arms would be refitted with fixed grips for installation on the new fixed grip quad. I honestly don't know how they can convert the Jackson Gore lift. Bubble chairs are extremely heavy, so the line equipment needed for a bubble 4 would be equivalent to that of a 6-pack with no bubble and the line equipment needed for a bubble 6 would be equivalent to what is needed on an 8 passenger gondola. They would probably need to run less chairs, which would reduce capacity on the new Quantum 4.

Snoloco is correct in that bubble carriers are much heavier. Either they're going to upgrade the line and basically re-engineer the entire lift to keep capacity, or they're going to have to cut down the number of chairs. As for converting, if the new bubble chairs are not automatic there's no need for additional equipment. If they are, one would need the opening/closing ramps installed in both terminals.
To change the carriers from detachable to fixed-grips, they'd need new hanger arms as well as grips. On Pomas, at least, the two hangers are different.

Not a new install, but Sugarloaf announced lift projects yesterday: Sugarloaf Announces Fixed Grip Chairlift Projects

The King Pine Quad (which had the rollback) is getting a new Doppelmayr drive terminal, but the rest of it will remain Borvig.

Good to know, thanks! Both lifts (new Sunshine Quad-FGQ) and the Jackson Gore HSDQ are Poma.

Can anyone tell me why Copper isn't going to install Tucker Mtn this summer? I remember late this season I just missed the Tucker Cat and ski patrol told me that it wasn't gonna go in because of the Forest Service....that's all could get out of them though.

In regards to Loveland lift 9 mid-station, I heard the reason it's not used anymore was because it literally got blown away and was way too much effort to keep open as a result.

Also, for Chair 5 at Loveland (The one that goes over route 6), I've heard that the reason it's not used anymore is because the forest service complained about garbage getting dropped in Clear Creek, yet on Loveland's MDP it shows the chair getting shortened which implies that they want to reopen it.

I'm hoping Loveland can install chair 10 in the next 3 years. Seeing how little I've heard about the project though, this may be a stretch.

I contacted SkyTrac lifts, they have two complete lift projects and a number of terminal replacement or lift modification projects this summer. Some resorts get upset if you let the cat out of the bag so I'll just say that one of the new lifts is in ID and the other is in AZ.

Hmmmm, Magic has been talking about an expansion for a number of years, but they're sitting on Jackson Hole's old Casper lift.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but Kissing Bridge in NY is removing their Coal Chute double, not sure if the new chair is going in right away....

I doubt it's Magic. Both Tamarack and Soldier Mountain have new owners that could be building new lifts. Could also be a short lift for one of Brundage's new housing developments.

Arizona Snowbowl has a new owner who is already building lifts at Sipapu and Durango. They also have four new lifts in the master plan. Just a guess.

Thanks for the intel vons.

Magic did mention expansion on Facebook back in March. But I too doubt they would be the ones buying a whole new lift. Soldier has 2 Yans in storage, so I doubt it's them. Tamarack does need a replacement for Wildwood, guess they could do it with a fixed grip. That would be my best guess, but probably a lousy guess. It's probably some place crazy like Rotorun.

It might be Pomerelle. They mention "equipment upgrades" this summer but there is no additional information.

I'm not certain what patrol was told, but we were informed that Powdr was taking a year off of capital projects (at least the big ones) to get its financial house in order. Management is fairly certain we'll get to do a lift next year but we're not sure which one, as we have several on the hit list. I'll keep y'all informed as I hear more.

Isn't wildwood an 05 HSQ? Why replace it? Unless it was re-possesed by the lender?
Also- When did Soldier get 2 yans? Don't they run 2 old double Stadeli's?

Yup, Wildwood was repossessed a few years back. Was rebuilt for Brian Head before this past season.

The 2 Soldier Yans are in storage, not built yet. I don't think they plan to replace the existing chairs, would be used for expansion.

Peter is correct. Peter did you stop by Pomerelle on your way to Park City or did you stop in at Skytrac in SLC?

Unfortunately didn't make it to either one this trip.
