The Ski Season isn't truly started in New England (obviously where I live) Wildcat, Bretton Woods, and Loon have opened, as well as Sunday River and a few others.
The new lifts i'm particularly excited about are almost finished.
Sunapee's New Sunbowl Express lift was fairly close to completion by mid-October, and I assume that it's pretty much done by now. The lift was the former Northstar Express Quad from Okemo, VT. It reused the towers from the old Sunbowl Quad.
The first thumbnail shows the Northstar Express installed at it's original location at Okemo, VT.

The second thumbnail shows the top area of the Sunbowl Express, after the old quad was removed but before the new one was in construction.

The third thumbnail shows a footing and some towers in the background.

The fourth shows the bottom terminal in construction. I have no idea if the new lift is top or bottom drive, but the original was a top drive.

The fifth shows the top station in construction : The Bullwheel is being flown in here

The sixth shows basically the same shot but a few seconds later.

Overall I'm pretty happy that the old quad is being replaced. It was my favorite lift, had a nice view and it serviced my favorite trails on Sunapee, but it was so slow...
The Spear Mountain Quad at Ragged is also going pretty good. Last time I checked they had the haul rope up.
The seventh thumbnail shows the new quad before the haul rope was applied. By the looks of it, I think it's a UNI-G.

The eighth thumbnail shows the bottom terminal after the haul rope was put on.

The ninth thumbnail shows the chairs and other supplies needed to finish the lift. Those clearly look like EJ's.

I also am quite happy about the Spear Mountain Quad. The old triple took like 15 minutes, and ain't nobody got time for that. :)
So, Okemo lost the Northstar Quad to Sunapee, NH. But, they're getting a brand new Six-Seater Bubble lift from Leitner-Poma. Unlike the Northstar, the new lift is a top station drive.
The Tenth thumbnail shows the bottom station of the new six-pack.

Is that wood-trim becoming a popular trend now? I says that since both of the new six-packs at Breck - the Kensho SuperChair last year and the Colorado SuperChair this year- have that same appearance for their terminals.

I don't think it is necesarily a trend.... it is a feature the manufacturer offers.

Looks like Sunburst will have a nice barn for storage/maintenance. Kinda envious.

One thing I noticed on the new lift is the wooden "underside" of the terminal, which I don't think the original Northstar Express had.

2. The High Noon Express @ Vail, which is a much newer lift that uses the wood.

With all the stuff around the Colorado SuperChair, we've practically ignored the fact that the Beaver Run SuperChair got new chairs.

If you want to be technical, they're the ones off the old Colorado lift.

153 chairs from the Colorado SuperChair, and obviously they'd want to keep the uphill capacity of before, so let's assume chairs 154-186 may have some slight cosmetic differences from chairs 1-153.

Those are still wierd looking chairs. If that lift was in Colorado, it would be stopped for misloads more than it would run. Why don't they just use the old c t e c chair design?

You think so? I would hope not, but maybe. As far as the CTEC carriers, i believe Doppelmayr still has the patent on those from the merger.

What would cause misloads in Colorado? The chair design?
Why don't they just use the old c t e c chair design?
Because they are cheaper to produce?
