This is the Governor's Express lift, a 1995 Poma detachable quad, 5,410 feet long, 1,530 vertical, 1100 fpm.

Never a good day when you come into work and see this.

This appears to be a bottom drive lift so theoretically just the return terminal, damaged chairs and the rope could be replaced. Poma built two new terminals of this vintage design at The Canyons a couple years ago.

First, 3 Washington State Ferries break down at the same time, now this. When it rains, it pours.

This is just horrible. I'm sorry for the mountain. Repairs are going to be in the millions.

The GM of the area said they are in touch with Poma and expect to have the lift operational by December.

That could be "GM Speak". The lift is currently being inspected for extent of damage. The lead time for a new haul rope also plays into this issue. Obviously LPOA will do everything they can to try to get them back up and running....

Too bad customer service from Doppelmayr is in the toilet. I have plenty of stories about Doppelmayr's poor customer service, but that is getting off topic.

The chairlift being talked about in this thread is a Poma, so Leitner Poma will look it after fixing it. Your Doppelmayr comment is irrelevant and totally out of place. OFF TOPIC.

I wonder how much it would cost to just scrap the damaged lift and buy new vs. repair everything. The terminal at the top is ruined and everything will need to be replaced. The haul rope will need to be replaced. Most chairs will also need to be replaced and since the Falcon Carriers aren't made anymore, it will probably be more economical to replace them with Omega Carriers. The grips are also damaged and the TB-41 grips are no longer offered, so it would probably be more economical to replace them with LPA grips. The sheave assemblies are probably damaged from the haul rope snapping and crashing to the ground. The only things on that lift that don't need to be replaced are the bottom terminal and the towers. You would think that with all the damage that it would be cheaper and better to buy new than replace parts. If the parts that were damaged were replaced, then they would still have an older lift that will be antiquated before a new lift is.

snoloco- you must have a Sugar Daddy somewhere with a huge checkbook! You talk about replacement costs and have no idea.
Back on topic- the fortunate thing is the top terminal was the return terminal. No main equipment damaged- motor, gearbox, evac, drive, etc.
Replacement parts still to be determined.

The TB-41 grip is still offered by Poma, at least until a couple of years ago that I am aware.

(Sorry about the Doppelmayr comment, I am a lot closer to them now and my frustrations just escaped me. I'll watch it in the future)

Are you up at Keystone? If so, I guess that would explain why you are frustrated with Doppelmayr or at least having closer ties to them. Sorry that things are not working out. That sucks that they may not be treating you people the way you deserve.

Andy, You are out of line for attacking 2milehi. Doppelmayr did get mentioned. We all know that the lift in question is a Poma. But Ribstathiok mentioned something about dopperlmayr and 2milehi was just venting. So what. Don't be mean as it may make 2milehi stop posting out here in the public view.

You should Apologize to 2milehi for your comment!

Civil, folks, civil.

I would imagine the bulk of the damage lies in the top terminal. Of course the rope is gone. You can still get either complete TB grips or parts. The carriers can be built, I've done several in the last few years. The sheave assemblies are probably all right, maybe scratched up a bit. It'll still cost the mountain some money, but hopefully not as much as a new lift.
