Don't know if it is just a drive terminal or a new lift but Monarch just posted a pic of a Sky Trac Bull wheel for Breezeway Chair on facebook

The Breezeway at Monarch is receiving a new drive terminal similar to Garfield. They (Monarch staff on facebook) say it will have the capability to convert to a triple chair when it is time.

Has anyone heard whether Sunday River is moving ahead with a similar project for the Spruce Peak Triple? It has not been mentioned in awhile.

I hiked up to the base of Spruce last month and nothing seemed to be happening. Not even any survey markers for the carpet base. I'll check in a couple of weeks.

Okemo is going to be making the "big announcement" on their Facebook page in the next hour. Based on their teases the last few days, I'm guessing they are getting orange bubbles for the six pack.

The page also confirms the moving of the original Northstar Express to Mount Sunapee to become the Sunbowl Express lift.

Wasn't sure on the timeline for Sun Bowl but based on Sunapee's reply inside the FB discussion of Okemo's announcemt, sounds like Sun Bowl is being replaced this year as well.

A reply posted by Okemo to their Orange Six announcement says the 2 south face lifts will not be installed this year but are planned soon.

A new real estate development is in planning at Okemo in Vermont, which would include two new lifts below the existing South Face area for 2014, though the full housing construction would take several years more. It's unclear whether the developer or Okemo would be responsible for the construction, though the resort will be operating the lifts once they open.

The Spruce Peak upgrade went from a new lift and carpet, to drive terminal and carpet, to load carpet only, to probably nothing. This is because the drive sits on ledge (recently discovered) and would have to be taken down in order to blast a hole for the vault. Getting late in the summer season for this to still happen, but you never know. I'll post if anything changes, but from my end, it is probably not happening.

Sunday River announced today that the Spruce Triple carpet load upgrade is happening this year, rock ledge be damned! Also said it should increase lift speed by 20%.

Guess it's now Facebook official. The pit is nearly dug out...still need the concrete work. Components for the carpet should start showing up here in a couple weeks from Europe.

Northside crowds do get bad on weekends and holidays, but if it's particularly bad you can always escape down Woodside to Lady Morgan. A six pack would be good there though. I don't think upgrading Red Cloud or Homestake is on their agenda though. Homestake is a short lift and little used, it doesn't make much sense to upgrade.

I think we just have to wait and see what happens with Vail's litigation with PCMR. If Vail ends up winning, you can count on the Canyons and PCMR being connected. If PCMR prevails, I still don't see them making a connection with DV. More likely just making upgrades to their resort to stay competitive with whatever changes Vail makes to the Canyons.

I really don't think a gondola from Main Street to Empire is an option being considered by anyone. Silver Lake makes much more sense for the gondola. It's a bigger base area and can accommodate the extra pedestrian traffic. There's not much up at Empire besides the day lodge and the Montage.

The other thing I've heard rumors about is cutting more runs from the top of Flagstaff down to Empire lodge, so there's more options besides just Bandana. The issue is there's roads in that area, and it would require building ski bridges to cross them.

A major issue with upgrading ANY of DV's lifts on Flagstaff Mountain to HSS is that the top of Flagstaff Mountain is VERY small and congested as is. If they were to upgrade lets say Quincy and Northside, more people than ever would be pouring onto the top of the mountain, only making the crowds on top worse than before.

Big Boulder, PA is replacing the Tannenbaum double with a new Partek lift.

That brings us to 5 Doppelmayr, 5 Leitner-Poma, 4 SkyTrac, 2 Partek and 2 SkyTrans for new lifts this year.

So they don't manufacture the lifts, they refurbish and install them. They'll still be Yans or Riblets or whatever.
