Cumming investing in Snowbird outside of the Powdr umbrella indicates he didn't have much faith in the outcome here. Is that it for this then? Sounds like Vail thinks they've won

"We respect the Court's decision but at the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that Vail and PCMR can and must resolve this dispute. For that to happen, both parties will need to sit down at the table, negotiate in good faith, and come to a rational agreement. We are committed to doing exactly that, which is why we have made repeated offers to buy or lease the disputed property for an amount far in excess of market value. But let me be clear: we will not walk away and allow a Vail takeover," Cumming said, in part.

So he wants to sit down to talk resolution, but only if things go the way he (Cumming) wants them to go... I gotta say I am rooting for Vail/Talisker at this point. Cumming appears so douchy in his comments.

Can you imagine a company literally acting like it already won a lawsuit to take over your entire resort? I feel his pain, regardless of the ruling.

Talisker did win a lawsuit...that was the news today.

Being all not familiar with the property lines, who owns the base of the town lift? I'm presuming it is town property & if so, and with approval, would it make sense to build a gondola there & using that to access the mountain, similar to heavenly's stateline base? As well as an access point from canyons should pcmr not sell their base property.

Not sure about the Town lift but Payday, Crescent, First Time, 3 Kings, Eagle and Silver Star all start on Powdr land and end on Talisker land.

Still watching with interest, since it seems the majority of our capital is tied up in this whole dispute. I'd hazard a guess that Vail/Talisker will make another offer for the Powdr-owned properties at the base. I'd be willing to bet that Cumming will reject that offer and we'll be back to square one. All this ruling does is place PCMR's 2014-15 winter season in jeopardy. I'm also curious if Cumming follows through on his threat to remove lifts from the hill since Powdr lost the suit.

Yes, I realize that...but VR has been acting like it essentially owns PCMR since this winter.

They will when the dust has settled, or at least be in control of PCMR if Talisker owns it.

Won't "Park Canyons" be an awesome ski are now that Vail controls both?

But in all honesty an interconnect between the two areas seems pretty likely unless the land in between PCMR and Canyons is privately owned.

If an interconnect is made between PCMR and The Canyons, I think it would probably be in the form of a high speed quad running from near the bottom of King Con to near the top of Iron Mountain, running up the opposite side of Iron Mountain from the Iron Mountain Express, with some additional trails cut to make it a lift one could do laps on.

Here is the property map. Until one gives, neither will be able to operate the mountain. I think this is really going to get ugly.

I suppose there is always the canyon from the bottom of King Con. I'm not familiar with the area but you might be able to create a temporary access point there long enough to make Powdr give up the base area.

I will definitely call ahead before trying to use my 3 days which supposedly come with my Copper season pass next winter. It is looking less likely.

That would face directly south, it wouldn't be easy to keep that open.

Well this is quite a pickle now. But nobody needs to park or sleep or load lifts at PCMR's base if they can't get to the top of the mountain. Vail has the upper hand and it's time to give up for Powdr.

Summer operations seem to be open as scheduled at PCMR despite the ruling, according to Facebook

Without getting into too much (internal) detail, this ruling is being looked at as a minor setback and not the end of the road by any stretch. 'Options are being considered'. Beyond that, we're supposed to 'refer all questions to PCMR senior staff'. Interesting that it's not the Powdr management team. I couldn't tell you who is senior staff at our sister in Utah.

I'm under the impression that very few people work for Powdr at the corporate level...unlike Vail Resorts which has a large corporate office in Broomfield.

I'm getting that impression as well. I guess as long as my paycheck doesn't bounce I shouldn't complain.
